Good afternoon everyone who sees and hears us. We are servicemen of the 79th airborne assault brigade, 2nd and 3rd battalions.
We had a mission in the village of Yampol. There is a big forest, we didn't see it all, but saw the outskirts.
Our commanders led us into the forest to dig in. Well, we had a couple shovels for a lot of people. We simply were smashed -- we didn't even have time to sink a shovel blade into the ground. We sat there for 5-6 days, and the commanders abandoned us.
And now they are trying to make us out to be deserters because we survived. And there are still a lot of corpses in those pits. I ask for your attention, especially the volunteers who help us.
The commanders who abandoned us -- we called in artillery and there was nothing, no help.
We were beaten by aviation -- no air defense.
We were stupidly thrown into the meat grinder.
Then we went out and asked the superior, it was a deputy brigade commander or a battalion commander - "What was that?"
He said, "Mike, the Branch Commander gave the order to go hand to hand against the tanks"
Therefore we appeal to you -- help us, because we are considered deserters. Anyone else wants to say anything?
Oh, we are being thrown on trial, like enemies, deserters who left the battle.
We did not leave the battle -- we decided to survive.
We took the fight, with machine guns against armor,
(2nd man continues speech) and those who are now alive came out alive from the cauldron. All others, 70% of our guys right now are laying in the forest.
(1st man resumes talking) In addition to the fact that they want to make us guilty of everything -- we consider our command to be guilty, perhaps the command of the general sector, who -- I don't know.
We ask to be taken to Nikolaev, because an assault is being prepared there.
Many know and understand that they decided to leave us here, because they want to finish us off so that you people do not know the truth.
The 95th and 79th Brigade are practically destroyed.
We are reservists, there are a few contract soldiers, a couple of people. Even contract soldiers understand that this is fucked up. We were thrown like meat. Sitting in the pit, we were being bombed and ours do nothing for days.

(2nd man) An hour before the breakthrough, our officers left the command post and abandoned us.
When there was a breakthrough, we asked for support, they said: "take up all-round defense", although they were no longer on the command post. When we moved to the command post, the post was already empty.
(1st man) One tank against thirty.
(3rd man) And we went out in groups of 2, 3, 5 people.
(4th man) When we went to the 2nd line, there was no one there at all who was supposed to cover us.
(1st man) We do not give up, we want to fight, but not in the 79th air assault brigade. We refuse to be in the 79th. Airborne died in my heart. I understand paratroopers will say it's shameful, well let it be. But I don't want to be a cannon fodder, I rather die in a battle.
(5th man) We cannot fight where the wounded are abandoned, the officers flee in cars, they flee and don't even want to pick up the wounded -- this is a disgrace. Such people are not officers, they are jackals.

Another company (remnants thereof) of 79th Ukrainian Brigade refuses to continue fighting, declaring loss of confidence in the army command, decrying failure to provide adequate supplies and failure of command & lack of guidance. They say that 1/3 is left of their manpower, the rest is dead or wounded.
These are not POWs, but active insubordination.
