On Tuesday, in light of the leak from the Supreme Court on the possibility of overturning Roe v. Wade, Democrat Representative from California Eric Swalwell tweeted out this little gem. In said tweet he states, “[Republicans] want to ban interracial marriage.”
My first thought on this statement was that this is such a ridiculous thing to say that it does not even need to be addressed. Then I thought about how so many of these people actually believe it. For instance, about a month ago, I happened across a gaming website’s political forum post about the same topic. This is a very left-leaning board which believes that CNN is Republican-controlled opposition, they are very comfortable being themselves here. Thus, no matter how ridiculous I or colleagues on the right might think it is for the other side to believe such things, it is worth taking notice of their beliefs.
To establish context, this claim that the Republicans want to ban interracial marriage comes from an interview wherein Indiana Republican senator Mike Braun allegedly stated that he thought it was a mistake for the Supreme Court to end southern anti-miscegenation laws in 1967. Simply looking at what Senator Braun actually said dismisses this notion. According to Slate.com, the exact exchange was:
“So you would be O.K. with the Supreme Court leaving the question of interracial marriage to the states?” a reporter asked.
“Yes,” Braun answered. “I think that that’s something that if you’re not wanting the Supreme Court to weigh in on issues like that, you’re not going to be able to have your cake and eat it too. I think that’s hypocritical.“

Someone should start a rumor that the Supremes will halt marriages between half-wits and intellectuals....to see how far the discussion would go.
“Yes,” Braun answered. “I think that that’s something that if you’re not wanting the Supreme Court to weigh in on issues like that, you’re not going to be able to have your cake and eat it too. I think that’s hypocritical.“
Braun, of course, has since "clarified" his comments.
This is why Republicans are stupid. The Democrats lay minefields and Republicans step right on them.
This would've been such an easy question to answer otherwise. Abortion and marriage are not the same. Federal laws pertaining to marriage are justified and reasonable. If I'm married in one state, should my marriage in a different state be recognized as valid? After all, the federal taxes I pay take into account my marital status.
Abortion has nothing to do with this.
Another leak?
That decision is not supposed to be published until the great day of the rope.
All of this noise over the last two days reminds me of what happened in 1992 when the National Hockey League made helmets optional for all players and not just for ones who were under professional contract before June 1 1979. You can likely talk about how the helmets detracted from the game in terms of taking away the fan/player recognition that was common in previous years and that they encouraged more stickwork and cheap shots, however, it likely was not that kind of a realistic idea that we could have reverted back in a time like the early ‘90s to the way things were before 1979 in terms of how the game was played and coached.
Nevertheless, the newspapers and radio talk shows were filled with stupid yuppie hockey parents who likely thought that their Jimmy or Johnny playing minor hockey was also no longer required to wear one. And the odd irony is is that nowadays, the concussion problem is that good deal worse even at the kids’ level.
All of the sudden, democraps are concerned about “a slippery slope”.
Eff all of them.
They are in a panic and showing the whole country how stupid and evil they are.
The left requires people to be ignoramuses it really does…
Roe is by far one of the worst decisions ever made, legal scholars on not the left and the right have all concluded the decision has absolutely no basis in law
The fact Roe was is set to be overturned should not be shocking to anyone, the real shock is that the legal travesty that was Roe wasn’t struck down long ago.
Trying to equate Roe with every other Supreme Court decision that ever existed is idiotic.
Dey gonna put y’all in chains!!!!!
Will the Supreme Court overturn Loving v. Virginia, even though this decision seems to make it a possibility? Almost certainly, no. But could the court overturn the Obergfell case that legalized gay marriage based on this decision? That isn’t outside the realm of possibility.
Flat earth people exist too.
Universal suffrage is a death sentence to social order.
If interracial marriage is ended, we couldn’t have TV commercials anymore. That’s all you see now.
No lie is too outrageous to tell the public and the MSM doesn’t even bat an eye.
DEMOUTRAGEOUSCRATS
They just keep lying. Unfortunately, some stupid people believe their lies. I still say that the divide is too vast and we should split the country. They hate us and we cannot abide what they think.
“This would’ve been such an easy question to answer otherwise. “
You are right, abortion has nothing to do with interracial marriage. The left uses the race card for everything to keep its base fired up and to change the discussion away the truth of the matter. The shortest answer to China spy compromised tinfoil conspiracy theorist Swellwell is that he is either stupid, or a bigot and liar, there is no state that is trying to outlaw interracial marriage, therefore there is no case is on track to wind its way to the Supreme Court.
“...we should split the country.”
The only division I would consider is that they are all pushed into the SF city limits, and a wall built completely around it. The rest of the land is ours. It is more than hate from the left - they want to destroy anyone opposed to them. Many in the GOP still think it is a mere difference of opinion with the “gentle lady or gentleman across the aisle.”
2 Timothy 3:6
“For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts
“That isn’t outside the realm of possibility.”
From the parts of the released draft I have read, that is exactly on point. When the Supreme Court overreaches and makes unconstitutional decisions, the damage to the country is immeasurable, and most likely permanent. Besides, Congress secretly likes it that the Court does its dirty work. Many would have been voted out of office had they tried to propose legislation on these two issues. Since it is premature to say that Roe will be overturned, if it is, then the legislators would now have to debate the issue... and unlimited abortion is gone. But first, there will be the civil unrest, or worst than that. Justice Blackmum’s legacy is in the crapper for eternity - a modern day Herodian - millions died as a result of it. If you haven’t read it, you should. It did not stand the test of time. It is quite pathetic ... even some on the left admit that. They did not at the time because the ends justify the means.
So my Marine friends who married women from Viet Nam and Korea would be in an illegal marriage?
