Top aides to President Joe Biden say that the publishing of a draft majority opinion on abortion rights from Justice Samuel Alito has made their jobs easier: Even if the final decision ends up backtracking from the full overturning of Roe v. Wade, there’s no hiding the Supreme Court’s intent.
Advisers to the President who were divided about how hard to lean into talking about abortion rights as a top issue are now united. Democrats around the country are lit up. And the political response, as well as the limited executive actions, that Biden aides had been planning for months have become much easier to roll out.
“The simplicity of this makes it a lot easier to mobilize and communicate,” a Biden adviser told CNN, emerging from scrambled meetings in a West Wing that, like everywhere else, was caught off guard by Politico publishing Alito’s draft opinion. Aides thought they’d have to do the work convincing voters that any adjustment to abortion rights was, in effect, a ban on Roe. Alito’s draft did that for them.
“No matter what nuance they add into it,” the adviser said, “it’s overturning Roe.”

they are going to have to keep their engine revved up for 6 months - IF the actual decision pushes the issue back to the states. that’s quite a challenge - but not impossible if they use BLM Antifa model. of course then you offend the heck out of a lot of other people. ‘twill be interesting.
I would agree with you....trend with abortions (at least since 1980) is down.
CDC info even says if you use 1980 data, and 2018 date....it’s half the number today. In fact, there’s no reason not to believe that the number of 2030...will likely be half of what it is today (if you left the present rules in place).
And already talk of finding and prosecuting the draft leaker is down the rabbit hole.
The dems just have no clue how fired up the country is in anger against them. This Roe v Wade issue doesn’t suddenly make rampant inflation, spiraling crime, a sieve-like border situation and the crap taught to America’s children in the classroom suddenly go away.
It may fire up their base, but the reality is that the people likely to be the most motivated by this are those who were already going to vote Democrat anyway.
Most voters will care a LOT more about the economy, inflation, the border, crime and possible war with Russia than they will returning this issue to the states.....which is all that overturning Roe would do. Oh noes! California and New York and Massachusetts residents will be hopping mad that women in other states will have to travel out of state to have an abortion? So what?
They won’t just bring up Roe. They’ll use it to point out the same court can just as easily strike down Obergfell v. Hodges, Lawrence v. Texas, Bostock v. Clayton County, Griswold v. Connecticut, and any other issue they can think of.
The Left is going to over do it...people will get so sick of their sick, sick crap.

Roe v Wade being 50 years old, is sited as support for quite a few other rulings since then. So what happens to all those rulings? Asking for a friend.

Nothing unless they too are overturned by a future court decision. Someone would have to file suit challenging them and they would have to work their way up to the Supreme Court for their decision.
We actually know who leaked this. Being behind it and actually doing it is the same as going along with a persion who does a stabbing makes you guilty too.
We all should be demanding there be punishment for this.

Realistically, there can be no actual fight. When the ruling is handed down, the fight is over. There is no national, no federal, recourse.
The fact is, the fight is already over before the ruling becomes official.

Alito mentioned that the overturning of Roe did not include the overturning of anything else.
That fact is ignored for obvious reasons.
They will move to a state where the baby murder is approved or get another job.
