Northern Indiana’s electric utility will delay the phaseout of a major coal plant due to the uncertainty created by a federal investigation into solar panel part manufacturers, the utility’s parent company said this week.
In an earnings report for the first quarter of 2022, NiSource, the parent company of the Northern Indiana Public Service Company, said the ongoing Commerce Department investigation has created “uncertainty and delays” in the solar panel industry.

Solar panels for electricity in northern Indiana? What a monumental waste. During winter, a low sun angle combined with lots of cloudy days = very little power generation in the winter.
There is blue rot everywhere.
I guess a lot of people like to freeze during a midwest blizzard. Didn’t know that was a thing!
Our Hoosier County just put a 90 day moratorium on new solar farms to study the impact
This is some of the richest farmland in the country and needs no irrigation
Colossal waste of prime ground
More destruction by idiots.
Corrections, insights welcome.
It remains that we have a very corrupt, alleged election-stealing, elite Democratic and RINO-controlled Congress (imo) that cannot be expected to its constitutionally enumerated duty to expel Constitution-ignoring career lawmakers under Article I, Section 5, Clause 2 (1.5.2) or Section 3 of the 14th Amendment imo.
"Article I, Section 5, Clause 2: Each House may determine the Rules of its Proceedings, punish its Members for disorderly Behaviour, and, with the Concurrence of two thirds, expel a Member [emphasis added]."
"14th Amendment, Section 3: No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof [emphases added]. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability."
So it's up to Trump's red tsunami of patriot supporters to peacefully exercise their voting power in 2022 midterm elections to effectively make 1.5.2 and Section 3 work, applying Section 3 to both federal and state governments.
And speaking of voting power, patriots are reminded that they must vote twice this election year. Your first vote is to primary career RINO incumbents. Your second vote is to replace outgoing Democrats and RINOs with Trump-endorsed patriot candidates. (Good work OH, IN patriots on yesterday primaries!)
Again, insights welcome.
No amount of solar panels — under 1,000,000 — will replace the output and reliability of a major coal-fired plant. None.
Solar Power is only viable in a limited number of circumstances, this whole push to go Solar is just plain stupidity and borders Lunacy.
I solar Powered my Well because the cost of getting electricity up my mountain was and still is way to high, so for about $5K(10 years ago) I put in:
12 Used solar Panels $100 each on Craigs List
8 225 Amp Hour 6 volt Batteries $100 each at Costco
1 MPPT Charge Controller $175 on Ebay
1 Magnum MS4024PAE Grid Tie Inverter $2500
And this runs my Well flawlessly, automatic watering for all my fruit trees, a Full Size Fridge and all the lights I want to turn on. But it definitely has limitations after the Sun starts going down and when it gets Cold outside. Which is why I got the Grid Tie inverter and have it hooked up to my Generator when and if I need it. I only need the Generator if I use power at night, which I rarely do, so it works in this situation. But for most people, you will be out of power by 9PM if you go full Solar
But what about batteries?
/s
Indeed Solar panels are like driving your car at night with only a dome light.
Those batteries will only last about three years. Your mileage may vary.
Food in short supply around the world and we waste the space on windmills and solar farms. Then the corn we go goes into the gas tank.
Funny you say that, with the POS Xantrex charge controller, the first set only lasted 4 years, these are going on 8 years with the MPPT charge controller, and the batteries are always fully charged and I hardly ever have to add water. The Xantrex cooked them and needed water every month, now I need to add water once or twice a year with the MPPT charge controller.
I use solar chargers on a few items. Yes the regulators definitely extend battery life. For some applications solar is the best solution. For national power supply? You got to be kidding me! They are destroying the stability of this country.
If I had my way we would be building nuclear power plants in every state, except for CA, OR, WA, IL, MA,CN, VA….
I suspect they don’t have a choice.
And I don’t remember a lot of sunny winter days in Northern Indiana.
My dad was a manager for one of NIPSCO’s LNG plants and gotta be rolling in his grave.
