Add Gmail to the list of reasons why Big Tech must open its black boxes

In yet another sign of Big Tech bias, it turns out Google’s Gmail program leans strongly Democratic — automatically sending Republican fund-raising mail to users’ spam folders far more often than the Democratic ones in the runup to the 2020 elections.

The news comes courtesy of North Carolina State computer-science researchers, who examined 318,000 emails from May through November 2020 and evaluated Outlook and Yahoo accounts as well as Gmail.

As the Republican National Committee sums it up in its complaint to the Federal Election Commission, the Gmail algorithm sent GOP fundraising e-mails to spam at a rate 820% higher than Dem ones. The study puts it less shockingly: Nearly seven in 10 Republican messages auto-spammed, vs. less than one in 10 Democratic ones.

Just shows the all-out push to steal an election in 2020 extended wide and far.

If email ads affect how you’re going to vote.... Just sayin’.

Well, I think their suspicion is that it might make a difference in contributions, which isn’t quite as weird. Plus, it shows how thorough they are in leaving no stone unturned, no matter how iffy the results should be.

Try reading the article. The bias affected fundraising, not voting.

I would say not doing what they promise costs them more in fundraising than what google is doing.

Remember big tech was canceling and/or outing conservative sites after the 2020 election? Trump supporters getting fired due to support of Jan 6th efforts. Lots of talk of ditching big tech social media, using Googleless phones and non tracking search engines, etc., etc. Talk was of the real possiblity of the new admin helping big tech in those efforts. I did a total op sec cleanup in all areas. I’m not worried about social credit nonsense because there are no bread crumbs being dropped. But I think many have fallen back to sleep.

There are lots of weak-minded people out there with no common sense or interest in politics...yet they DO vote. I have no doubt they can be influenced by this. The thing about the Dems is they don't use just one cheating technique. They use scores or hundreds and, while each one may be small, when COMBINED, they have a huge effect.

True, but every message delivered has a cumulative effect. If people are getting "D" messages, even thought they may not donate, it can have an effect on their voting. I'd guess that many weak-minded and uninformed people respond to an inbox full of "D" messages and a dearth of "R" messages. They could infer that the "D"s are a lot stronger party and deserve their vote. Remember, it's not the one single technique that tilts an election, but the combined effect of scores or hundreds of such techniques the D's deploy.

I noticed a bunch of GOP and Trump fundraising email in spam the other day. I also noticed it sends firearms advertising to spam at an alarming rate as well.

This sort of examples of malfeasance on the part of Big Tech is why the Left is so freaked out about Elon buying Twitter. They never thought someone from outside the cabal might come in and lift the lid on how Big Tech has been systematically biasing searches, email, suppressing news, etc.

LOL! Yeah, since I didn’t read anything past the header originally, upon further reading it appears that the goggle folks misdirect the stuff concerning fund raising. But, again, if emails get you to cough up money........ All the crap I get goes to the trash immediately if not sooner when it comes to political correspondence. Unless it’s boiler plate responses from my (s)elected (non)representatives. Then it gets saved. For what, I don’t know. :>}
