Well, I think their suspicion is that it might make a difference in contributions, which isn’t quite as weird. Plus, it shows how thorough they are in leaving no stone unturned, no matter how iffy the results should be.

There are lots of weak-minded people out there with no common sense or interest in politics...yet they DO vote. I have no doubt they can be influenced by this. The thing about the Dems is they don't use just one cheating technique. They use scores or hundreds and, while each one may be small, when COMBINED, they have a huge effect.
