The Ukrainians have had years to fortify eastern Ukraine. My guess is some of the battles resemble small scale versions of Soviet assaults on dug-in German positions in WWII or even WWI trenches. Murderous for both sides, but the Russians are probably losing the usual 3-4:1 for offense vs. defense casualties. Only unlike WWII, they don't have the reserves to make up those losses.
By Friday Ukraine will have a lot of those Nato
weapons being sent to them.
So I would expect a vast improvement in the
offensive by Ukraine. They were running out of
ammo. Now they will have more tanks a lot more
155mm artillery. More Javelins, Nlaws, stingers,
switchblade and other drones.
Now if a couple dozen SU jet fighters get to be
flown into service Russian navy will be in trouble.
Right now the Russian tanks are sitting ducks
with all the new anti tank weapons.
Surprised if Putin allows Patrushev to take power. You think Putin will have the operation in secret. Not even this inner circle would know. You think Putin would have kept Medvedev as his Prime Minister. He seems to be a puppet. Can’t trust others. You lnow, this is Russia after all. If Patrushev gets a chance to take Putin out and to seize power, why wouldn’t he do it?

Canadian General Trevor Kadier was arrested while trying to escape from the territory of Azovstal in Mariupol, media and bloggers reported.
According to reports, the general was in charge of biolaboratory No. 1, where 18 people worked with deadly viruses.
Earlier it was reported that Azovstal has a mercenary general who is in touch with Zelensky.
An additional report on the internet said he had been taken to Moscow.

bit more information besides Chechnya, even thought that
was a good example to give.

Even when the Warsaw Pact still existed, the first thing the Poles did after delivery of a Soviet tank was disassemble it and rebuild the engine and transmission because they were junk.
The Russians knew if the Warsaw Pact attacked the West that the Poles would not fight for them. They pretty much factored that in.
That’s a nice story, except Polish workmanship left a lot to be desired even compared to the Soviet one. They love such stories though, they make them feel good.
I won’t be surprised to hear these stories in reverse in 30 years. The same Polish are going to tell that NATO knew they won’t fight the Russians.
Gonna have to be a lot of changes in Russia before that ever happens.
Alternatively, some changes in Europe. I can already see it.
Audie Murphy earned his medals by putting himself in danger and taking chances with his own life. He did NOT sacrifice the lives of his buddies and later soldiers under his command. My interpretation of “casualty adverse” is that the average Russian “Private Ivan” lacks morale and has no trust in his officers as to why they are fighting this war.
