Even when the Warsaw Pact still existed, the first thing the Poles did after delivery of a Soviet tank was disassemble it and rebuild the engine and transmission because they were junk.
The Russians knew if the Warsaw Pact attacked the West that the Poles would not fight for them. They pretty much factored that in.
That’s a nice story, except Polish workmanship left a lot to be desired even compared to the Soviet one. They love such stories though, they make them feel good.
