Thanks for your sane and correct response. Unfortunately, many of us live in parts of the country where they still obsess about “cases.”
South Africa is rising more sharply than here. Deaths, too. It’s coming into winter there, but I don’t think they ever get too very cold.
The UK is still seeing triple digit Covid deaths per day. Ditto France and Italy. Looks like those are in decline. Regardless, the point is South Africa doesn’t give a damn about US midterms. Nor Europe. Nor does the virus.
Peru looks safe for now. They were butchered this time last year by Lambda. Lambda never really got out of S. America. It was that variant that put Peru at the top of the deaths/million table globally. The rest of the world was lucky.
The US will likely have triple digit Covid deaths today. Restrictions are gone. Vax is getting very old. Recovered immunity ditto. We are a population ripe for the next serious variant’s picking.
