Less than 25 years after American and NATO intervention ended a brutal war in the Balkans, one party to the conflict is swaggering and boasting over its new military hardware.
Serbia on Saturday publicly displayed a Chinese anti-aircraft missile system, according to The Associated Press.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said the missiles give Serbia a “powerful deterrent” against all threats.
“We will no longer allow [ourselves] to be a punching bag for anyone,” Vucic said after the display, according to the AP.
The wire service interpreted that comment as a reference to the 1999 bombardment of Serbia in 199 after ethnic cleansing was reported in Kosovo the previous year.
“I’m proud of the Serbian army, I’m proud of a great progress,” Vucic said at a news conference, according to the Voice of America.

Every country has the right to defend itself against outside aggression.
It looks like Serbia has aligned itself with Russia and China, not that that should come as any surprise. Serbia has historically been tight with Russia, and it was Russia’s close ties to Serbia in 1914 that was a catalyst for “The Great War” (Austria-Hungary was concerned about Russia’s possible response to any A-H move against Serbia; but Germany said it would have A-H’s back if Russia became involved; that’s all the assurance A-H needed).
She had been a cop in the midwest. She was there as a UN peace keeper. She ended up discovering that other UN peacekeepers contractors were involved in smuggling/trafficing women to be used as prostitutes in Bosnia. It is based on a true story.

Serbia has every right in the world to purchase and deploy defensive weapons. Period.

Come to think of it. Why does this article say missles going up in Serbia when it is a missle defense, not missles?
