I suggest that Adam would be gravely disappointed.
In a normal world, but it hasn't been normal since the steal was on the table.
As alloysteel said: "Mike Pence was driving the getaway car..."; i.e., Pence made his bed and is not now going to be able to jump out of it.
His defense that he didn't have constitutional authority to overturn the election is a non sequitur, no one is arguing that. But it does reveal he either did not fully understand what his role in the matter was, or that he allowed his good sense to be overcome by the hopes of others.
There can be no doubt it is best he never reached the highest office in the land.
