VLADIMIR Putin's top military commander has been wounded in Ukraine and was sent back to Russia just days after he arrived to take charge of the war.
The Chief of the Russian General Staff Valery Gerasimov had been sent by Putin to take personal control of his push to grab territory in Donbas and eastern Ukraine.

The unconfirmed claim is that Gerasimov, 66, was wounded in Izyum in Ukraine’s Kharkiv region, which is at the centre of intense fighting.
It is also where Russia’s ninth general Major General Andrei Simonov, 55, was killed, according to reports today.
I will admit you are correct. Pat is full of musings here. It might have been another column of his where he was pro-Ukrainian.
“If this doesn’t escalate into a nuclear war, the books written about this in 30 or 40 years will be filled with US and Brit intel, SF, and techs as the main force fighting the Russians in our long sought after direct war with them.”
And apparently our Western overlords are contemplating further “expansion of NATO.” Unbelievable.
NATO should take an active role in Asia-Pacific region, UK’s Truss says
Updated 01:03, 29-Apr-2022
Britain’s foreign minister has called for NATO to take on a more global role.
In a speech in London, Liz Truss said the North Atlantic Treaty Organization should not be confined to its traditional areas as the world changed.
Truss said the UK rejects “the false choice between Euro-Atlantic security and Indo-Pacific security,” adding: “In the modern world we need both.”
Russia cited expansion in NATO’s operations as justification for taking military action in Ukraine. And while refusing to take sides in that conflict, China has repeatedly noted that escalating military buildups tend to exacerbate tensions and risks rather than reducing them.
“We believe that the security of one country should not be achieved at the expense of the security of another. Still less should regional security rely on expanding military blocs,” China’s embassy in the UK said in a statement last month.
Truss specifically namechecked China in her speech, suggesting that NATO should play a role in determining the future of Taiwan. However, this view has not received broader support from NATO members in the past and some are known to want to retain a European focus to the organization’s operations.
China has repeatedly declared that third parties should not involve themselves in its internal affairs.”
“Nothing done in Ukraine in this two-month war has diminished the Russian arsenal of 6,000 nuclear weapons, the world’s largest stockpile. And the more we destroy Russian conventional power, the more we force Moscow to fall back onto its ace in the hole — nuclear weapons.”
The essential message of the entire Buchannan article. Not a word of “Slobber Ukraini” in it.
Stupid speech!
The UK can barely project power from Britain proper to the Isle of Man.
So, this is a thinly disguised call to get the US to continue to be the “policeman-of-the-world” with the rest of NATO as tag-a-longs!
If there is such a Buchannan article I would sincerely like too read it. I have followed his thinking since he ran for President in the 90s. I like the guy.
“ BTW— I had a good born in Poland friend about 7 years ago. He absolutely hated the Russians. He would go on about this. I mostly remained silent, because I thought Putin was a good non-woke, anti-gay, religious leader for the Russians.”
Why did anyone ever believe this?
Putin isn’t exactly some enigma you know. Who he really is has always been public knowledge.
It’s painful to watch the self-inflicted suicide that we are engaged in.
Poland contemplating a “peacekeeping mission” in Ukraine. The U.S. actively involved in a “proxy war” that is so apparent that Chuck Todd did a two minute rant on it. I wonder if anyone has told our CIA that Russia has 30,000 tanks in addition to their hypersonic missiles.
The Ukranians trying to drag Romania into opening an additional front.
Stupid must be contagious...:-(
“Yeah, they flew their DJI kid drone over the area, said “Say, that’s a Russian general. The drone converted it to a lat/long in real time, communicated that to the asset waiting for a fire mission, and they killed a General”
You are aware that drones are capable of transmitting lat/long information and that a 13 year old could do it. Maybe a grown up said “look at all those antennas! Maybe we should blow that up.”
“It’s all homegrown Ukes with toy drones, managing to get lucky again and again and again, and again etc etc etc”
Apply Occams Razor. (Hint-look it up)

Poland contemplating a “peacekeeping mission” in Ukraine. The Ukrainians trying to drag Romania into opening an additional front.

Both Poland and Romania had territory in what is now Ukraine.
Both would like that territory back.
Both are exploring entering the war against Ukraine to take back their ‘lost’ territories.
Russia wants to hold on to Transnistria.
Ukraine wants Transnistria for the very large Russian ammo dump there.
Yup, all that is true...:-)
Now just imagine for the moment that much of our not-too-bright citizenry had not bought into our corrupt media’s “information” that Trump was a Russian agent.
He would be President now...he would have worked out an accommodation to Russia’s legitimate demands about the Minsk agreement and the world would be at peace.
We would have avoided all the death and destruction we have seen in just the last two months and more importantly all the death and destruction we are going to continue to see in the misgotten belief that we can “weaken” Russia and effect regime change no matter how long it takes.
“Both are exploring entering the war against Ukraine to take back their ‘lost’ territories.”
Utter nonsense.
That's the only Ukrainian casualty so far.
LOL! rinse, repeat!
Im sure they have nicer offices than that.
The FSB has a budget after all, unlike their military.
Utter nonsense.

Not according to reports from various people on scene. But have it your way, surprise is always interesting.
Good on you to be open minded.
I had more sympathy for Putin as well for the reasons you state. Now it is obvious it was just a facade.
IS that Norse Viking?
