Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is vowing to sign a constitutional carry gun law for the state before he leaves office.
His comments came Friday while speaking to residents in North Central Florida, according to the Orlando Sentinel.
"We used to be the leader on Second Amendment issues," DeSantis said.
The Republican governor noted 25 other states already have passed constitutional carry legislation. The law allows people to carry handguns without a concealed weapons license or permit, the Sentinel said.
DeSantis said the gun law was "one thing I wanted the Legislature to do."

Good!
(It’s about time.)
Why didn't he do that at the beginning of his term?
In a hot and humid state like Florida concealed
carry in the Six month long summer while wearing
tee shirts and walking shorts is rediculus.
We should be allowed to carry with OWB holsters
the gun concealed but the outline visible in the
molded holster.
We CCW holders have no criminal record and
I see a deterrent in having use lawful people
visible to the criminals. Many of us have military training.
Going to need those guns after Amnesty Senator Rubio votes to amnesty the 30+ million illegal aliens, whose number is growing by 15,000 a day now.
He’s waffling and passing the buck to the FL legislature who has cold feet on this.
Isn’t it great how they always frame it as, “the law will allow citizens to...”. No, the law will explicitly stop the state government from using taxpayer’s monies to violate their clearly protected right that bureaucrats and other thugs have been willfully and knowingly violating for over a century in many states.
All states should have a constitutional carry law. The Constitution was never meant to apply to just a handful of states.
No more than Abbott did, and we got it in TX. The Governors can only support laws, not decree them.
