The blood service asked Health Canada to allow it to scrap questions about gender or sexuality, and instead base screening on higher-risk sexual behavior such as anal sex.
Starting no later than Sept. 30, potential donors will be asked if they have had new or multiple sexual partners in the last previous months, no matter their gender or sexual orientation. Those who say yes will be asked if they have engaged in higher-sisk sex. If they have, they will need to wait three months after such activity before donating blood.

That does it - I’m starting a family blood bank.
This isn’t about them being able to.
It’s about removing a stigma.
Their desire to remove that stigma, is more important than
everyone else’s right to good health.
Sad thing is, I don’t think you can store blood for more
than 30 days.
It may have changed in recent years. That used to be the
standard.
Yeah, I will probably do nothing. I don’t even know my own blood type :-)
I think mine is B Positive. The Negative is more rare.
Woke Canada needs to inform with and put out detailed research papers on TV and online as to why so as to keep people safe. They do want to keep people safe, right?

I don’t know the present climate and threat of HIV to that
community, so it’s hard to give a complete observation
either way.
I still would rather error on the side of a safe blood
supply.

I've done research of my own. Yes, it's well below 50. And that's in an affluent group out of Dallas.
Even if the blood is disease-free, it might turn you gay.

We may need to start private blood banks. It may be an imperative.
Okay, that explains why they’re fighting to be allowed to donate. HIV adds 14 years to its infecteds age, even if taking PrEP. They are prone to dementia (officially called HAND: HIV-associated neurological disorder), cancers, kidney disease, premature death, et al. Bad disease to get from blood donation.
I can’t think of another reason.
I don’t think they can cleanse tainted hood.
