One of the things about this war that kind of surprised me was the availability and quality of commercial satellite imagery. Having spent a couple of decades looking at military satellite imagery the shrinking gap in quality between military and commercial is an eye opener personally.

Having resources is one thing, but the Russians don’t have the high tech pieces to successfully exploit them. And they have had a brain drain and neglected education over the past few decades.
I would rather go with the pessimistic view that they have more cannon fodder. This means the Ukrainians need to destroy more Russian battalions, ships, tanks and aircraft.

I learned he is about to turn 70 in a country where the longevity is 68.2 years. He lived his early life where there was no aspirin or Tylenol. His early years were medically tough by American or Euro standards. He is alive beyond his expiry date.
That has to weigh on his mind. Extrapolation.......Ukraine now or never.

A 10% loss of force effectiveness typically means “We can’t function anymore”. 20K is just about 10% of the Russian armed forces.
So no, I do not believe that the 20K causality estimate is valid.
Not saying that Ukraine is out and out lying, but armies typically overstate enemy causalities, and understate their own.

Let's be perfectly clear about this fact: withdrawing Russia's troops that are facing China means Russia will become China's gas station.
