Godfather III is unfairly maligned. Sure, it ain't 1 or 2, but I think it's a very good movie. Certainly better than anything Penn or Johnny Raper did (except for Fast Times).
Godfather romanticized organized crime. The Sopranos (from what I hear) got it right...dysfunctional, violent, low class, and filthy. That why many of my Italian friends dislike the Sopranos and love The Godfather.
Years ago I worked for a short time for a company that turned out to be owned by the son of a Michigan mafia guy.
These were some of the flat out stupidest people I ever met.
I quit a short time lye when I found out both owners were embezzling from each other.
