Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R) signed a bill on Wednesday empowering the state’s investigations agency to probe accusations of voter fraud, a power previously held only by the secretary of state.

Kemp said the measure would help ensure secure and fair elections in the state, however critics say it was an unnecessary expense that served only to undermine voter confidence amid former President Trump’s claims that the 2020 election was stolen.

Kemp dumped Trump now he’s just trying to win the primary election next month.

Heck, Kemp signed a tax cut bill this week just in time for the election.

Buying the vote.

“...however critics say it was an unnecessary expense that served only to undermine voter confidence...”

In exactly the same way bank robbers lament the unnecessary expense of vaults, cameras, alarms, and armed guards that serve to undermine depositor confidence.

Signing a bill like that gives the impression that there was fraud in the last election. You don't make corrections where there was no need for corrections.

The bill is meant to appease those who felt cheated in the lat election, or it's meant as a gesture of good will. But, whoever is bent on cheating will do so, no matter how many laws are passed, because, to the cheaters, there is no other way to 'win'. It's just like the gun laws which don't stop criminals from getting their hands on guns.

But he allowed Stacey Abrams, Elias, and Soros to control 2020.

He probably thought Trump was a goner. And he didn’t like him in the first place anyway. So his beef is probably personal. Otherwise, he’s a pretty solid Republican. He’s just not on the Trump train.

I think Sheriffs should also be able to investigate election and voter fraud.

If I am not mistaken True the Vote has some names attached to the phones they have collected data on.

They should be able to make a complaint, just like any other citizen. And that complaint should be made to the county sheriff where the fraud happened.

I should add…if you haven’t listened/watched the Charlie Kirk podcast interview with True the Vote, you should.

Those 2 should also have personal security, if they don’t already.

A “solid Republican” would have not stood for any fraud whatsoever.

Logically it would increase voter confidence wouldn't it? Everything the media/Democrats/Never Trumpers say about the fraud allegations makes zero sense.

“Barn door….horse.”

Not sure here. If he signed a bill for future voter integrity then he is doing the right thing as it needs to be corrected prior to the US congress approving the vote. They are forced to and this whole complaint has gone to their lap and not at the states’ level where the corrections are supposed to be made. Wish all 50 states and territories did the same thing. Having a problem with congress is a waste of time.

>> Good for him.

The bill just “empowers” “the state’s investigations agency to probe accusations of voter fraud”. It doesn’t mean they’ll be allowed to actually investigate.

Given Kemp’s actions in 2020, this is likely just smoke and mirrors.

The left doesn’t get that what undermines public trust in the elections is their stonewalling any attempts at investigating election irregularities.

Only someone with something to hide would object to an investigation of election irregularities and voter rolls.

This is more smoke and mirrors from “Beijing Brian” Kemp. Kemp and the corrupt LtGov Geoff Duncan blocked all new election integrity bills in the 2022 session. This new law empowers the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) - an executive agency whose director is appointed by the governor - to investigate election crimes that its director refused to pursue despite ample evidence.
