AMSTERDAM — The FBI is probing the agency’s involvement in investigations into the October 2018 Schoharie limousine disaster which killed 20 people, according to a letter released by U.S. Rep. Paul Tonko, D-Amsterdam.
“In recent months, concerns have been raised about this incident and whether there was any FBI involvement in the investigation,” wrote Jill Tyson, assistant director at the FBI. “As a result, the director ordered that the FBI further review the matter.”
Mounting questions over the FBI’s possible role in the investigation in the crash of a vehicle operated by Prestige Limousine, owned by Shahed Hussain, a former agency informant, prompted Tonko to call for answers earlier this year.

If true, it sound like criminal activity BY the FBI. again, another informant and another FBI screw up.
In the early afternoon of October 6, 2018, a stretch limousine crashed at the junction of New York state routes 30 and 30A north of Schoharie, 30 miles west of Albany, killing 20: the driver, all 17 passengers, and two pedestrians who were in a nearby parking lot. The passengers were mostly from communities around the Capital District, primarily Amsterdam, and were on their way to celebrate a birthday at Brewery Ommegang near Cooperstown. Among them were four sisters and two recently married couples.
Investigators uncovered problems with the limousine, the driver and the limousine company. The state had ordered the vehicle removed from service after it failed two inspections due to mechanical problems including deficient brakes; a shop hired to fix the brakes allegedly made inadequate repairs and then falsified their records. The vehicle was only certified for 10 seats but had 18 installed. The driver lacked the required endorsement to his license for carrying 15 or more passengers.
Just because this guy was an informant, does not mean the FBI had any involvement with this accident. Sounds like the company is completely at fault here.
I live in the western Catskills. I take Route 30 North if I have errands in the Albany area. My route takes me by the site of the crash; each time I go by it is a reminder of the horrifying crash.
Unless they allowed them to skirt laws and/or feel that they would not be scrutinized for not fully complying with laws which eventually leaked over to the multiple issues with the limo.
I couldn’t really find out, but it sounds like it was a 1 vehicle accident. Is that correct?
I mean, yo may be correct, but is there any evidence, or is this just pure speculation?
In other words, they let the family get away with unlawful things.
This is bubbling up because Elise Stefanik called the FBI out on it a month or so ago. Took them to task at a house committee meeting I believe.
Yep, she knows what happened with the corrupt FBI. The Dem, Tonko is gloming on.
Ahhh...the Joe Biden Privilege Treatment.
The FBI is investigating the FBI? (Pardon my skepticism.)
Our government is corrupt, our justice department is also corrupt.
it seems the FBI informants are the real law breakers and the FBI allowing it makes them as guilty.
I am from Scoharie County. It a beautiful but poor area. What does the US government care about a few white hicks getting killed.
The owner of the car was an FBI informant that apparently allowed him to skirt the law. I visit that county often.
Just because the FBI refused to release information in their files about the case doesn’t mean they are covering up something.
Oh? .... Wait a minute - the FBI has stuff in their files on this case? Maybe Hillary new a few of the people in this “accident”?
Nothing to see here. Carry on. /S /s and more /s
Yes - one vehicle, the limo - it had no brakes as it came down off 30A. 30 A as it approaches 30 when heading west/south is quite steep. The limo reached Route 30 where 30A ends, crossed over it, and crashed into terrain near the Apple Barrel restaurant.
been to that brewery...
