This is what happens when Democrats run a city into bankruptcy, vilify law enforcement to justify cutting their budget, and then can't hire any law enforcement to backfill the empty positions from the officers who left.

Guaranteed that these unpaid "security guards" do not have to pass a background check and wouldn't pass one anyway.

My city does this and the guards aren’t allowed to do anything. They can watch a guy shoot up drugs in the open and they can’t do anything. The only thing they can do is be an eyewitness to events.

Before a security guard is shot and killed, there are going to be shootings where the guard is no more than a bystander and the whole program will be called into question.

This program is a big lie from politicians to Chicago residents to pretend the politicians are doing something about crime but that lie won't hold up as the victimization continues.
