Rep. Michael McCaul (R-Texas) on Sunday defended House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) after it was reported the Republican leader said he would advise then-President Trump to resign if he was impeached following the January 6 rioting.
McCaul said on “Fox News Sunday” that it was important to put McCarthy’s comments “into the context of when it was given.”

The context was the GOPe thought they finally had a chance to rid themselves of a populist outsider.

advise then-President Trump to resign if he was impeached following the January 6 rioting I cannot think of a "context" that makes that anything other than more RINO alignment with the Delusional America-Hating Left.

Hard for a political opportunist to know which way the wind was blowing at that moment in time.

Apparently the only person that doesn’t get the benefit of things being in context is Trump himself.

This was literally right after January 6, it was a very dark day and a very shocking day. A lot of emotions flying high
IOW, immediately after the democrats found another way to try to get rid of Trump once and for all.
If McCarthy can be so easily convinced that the democrats might have the goods on Trump, then, when was he convinced that the democrats had the goods on Trump with the Russia/Trump collusion trap?
Anyone that is as dubious as McCarthy, has no business leading the minority republicans and perhaps the majority republicans after the upcoming elections.
Time for new blood at the top of the republicans in congress. McCarthy cannot be allowed to make more knee-jerk policy statements when the enemy democrats can create more scandals out of thin air.

Ridiculous. McCarthy is a clown. First, there was his statement, but then there was his blatant honesty about it. Would the congressman like to defend that?

The context is that McCarthy is a closet RINO.
Remove all RINO’s and end the context problem!

I’m gonna give McCarthy a pass on this. His original statement on the recording was prefaced by “I think....” as in “I think I’m going to urge him to resign”. That is not a definite commitment of any kind to do so. He says he THINKS he will do that.
It was still in the direct aftermath of all the chaos. Dems want to make more about this than there is.
