“The chain of command failed that soldier.”

Exactly, all the way up to the Commander in Chief. The irony is that he was helping illegals break the law or the Constitution which he swore an oath.

His immediate Commander needs to be court martialed as well as his commander and so on for following an illegal order and for murdering his Soldier.

"Exactly, all the way up to the Commander in Chief."

When they've not been federalized, the Commander-in-Chief of any state's National Guard is that state's governor. In this case, Greg Abbott.

I agree with you 100%. Once I experienced my first ARTEP, and figured out the "game", I was a real PITA. My attitude was, "if you're saying my neck is on the line, then stay out of my way and let me do my job."

No one, and I mean NO ONE, should have been allowed in the water without flotation devices. I was never a lifeguard, but I know the havoc created by unskilled swimmers trying to cross a river. And this soldier's Platoon Leader, Company CO, Battalion CO, etc. should have known that, too.

This is not a proper function for National Guard soldiers, unless they have received the requisite training. What's that saying? "Poor planning = poor performance."
