First Priority -- Avoid US War With Russia
Townhall.com ^ | April 22, 2022 | Pat Buchanan

Asked if the U.S. should send troops to fight beside the Ukrainians, Sen. Chris Coons, D-Del., said Sunday the time may have come.

Russian President Vladimir Putin "will only stop when we stop him," said Coons.

"We are in a very dangerous moment where it is important that ... we in Congress and the administration come to a common position about when we are willing to go the next step and to send not just arms but troops to the aid in defense of Ukraine."

"If the answer is never, then we are inviting another level of escalation in brutality by Putin."

In response, the White House affirmed President Joe Biden's declaration that U.S. troops are not going to be sent to fight Russians in Ukraine, as this would open the door to World War III.

Said Biden last month: "The idea that we're going to send in offensive equipment and have planes and tanks and trains going in with American pilots and American crews, just understand ... that's called World War III, OK? Let's get it straight here, guys."

Biden added, "We will not fight the third world war in Ukraine."

Since Biden made these remarks, however, the red line against direct U.S. aid to the Ukrainian military has shifted, though the prohibition against the introduction of U.S. troops and air power has remained.

The present U.S. position might be summarized thus:

As U.S. forces fighting and killing Russians in Ukraine would ignite a U.S.-Russia war, which could escalate to nuclear war, we are not going to take that first step and risk the security and survival of our country, even if our staying out of this two-month war means the defeat of Ukraine.

The US will not need to go to the war in Ukraine. The war will come to us.

Just as it did in World War II. Does anyone think that the US sending military aid and equipment to Ukraine is not a blatant act of aggression against Russia?

Sending aid and equipment has abundant precedent in realpolitik, and will not be a cause of escalation. Sending troops or other direct military engagement would be another matter altogether.

Why would any journalist ask Coons a question about U.S. Military stategery? Unless of course everyone is following the Beltway narrative script. Then why ask anything at all?

The US should take nuclear war more seriously. Really. Life is not a comic book.

Coons daughter was the child who Biden groped in one of his more famous groping photos.

Why should America make Russians bleed?

Do you want them to make Americans bleed in response?

A nuclear exchange would kill MILLIONS of people in both countries. Over a poor country known to be one of the most corrupt nations on Earth?

Haven’t enough young Americans died fighting in backwater, foreign countries throughout the world in the last 100 years?

If you want Russians to bleed, volunteer yourself and go fight for Ukraine IN UKRAINE.

a fair amount of the population actually uses ‘word-thinking’ which means because it can be worded a way that makes it seem like we are not in the war, they believe russia will agree.

so yes, people think what we have done here is not multiple acts of war. honestly, the financial stuff is worse at this point. we stole their foreign reserves.

Why would we when those retarded cynical drunks are kicking their own ass, while simultaneously telling the world how awesome their doing. When satans little helper Putin is destroying this monstrous people all we would do is get in the way. Possibly even, shudder, save Russian lives. This is the only thing the Russians excel at: self destructive behavior that hurts as many innocents as possible.

All the stuff we’re sending will, at best be a bulwark against Russian aggression against Western Ukraine, after Russia has effectively split the country at the Dnieper. So much for demilitarization. So both sides can claim victory at some level and we can start minding our own backyard. Best case scenario. Worst case scenario is endless proxy war.

LOL The problem with this analysis is that those pesky Ukrainians won't just turn belly up and surrender despite the supposed Russian superiority in arms. Anyone with familiarity with the history of the area could have told you that.

The morons in DC, whose combination of irritating Moscow over Ukraine with promises of "unlimited support" while simultaneously demonstrating weakness by making concessions such as dropping the Nord Stream II sanctions in exchange for nothing and asking for Russian assistance with caving in to Iran (which had the Russians laughing at our diplomats behind their backs) is the reason Putin attacked.

Now DC has settled in for a policy of gradual escalation, which just means Russia will keep escalating to try to achieve its scaled back goals. Russia may win, but with a large number of Ukrainian reservists almost ready, their ability to wear down the Russian army may yet prevail. If that happens, the fools in DC may very well get the confrontation the cowards are trying to avoid anyway. What should happen is enough escalation to persuade Putin he won't win while offering him a face-saving way out, such as recognition of the Crimean annexation.

—————————————————————

Actually, we’ve done much worse to Russia than if we had sent troops to Ukraine.

See post 10. We’ve seized their assets, placed economic sanctions, and we actively support Russia’s enemies.

What else does America have to do to get involved in another futile and pointless war?

These *ssholes should send their own kids out first. Then we’ll see how good of an idea it is to fight with a near-peer adversary, not one of those various sh*tholes where the Army and Marines are usually sent.
