Trump is fighting a deep state machine. People think they know, but they don’t. You have to live in Washington to understand the depth and breadth of the problem. Slashing and burning is ABSOLUTELY REQUIRED to fix this. No quarter.
McCarthy succumbed to the same reflex that so many on our side did - seeing the January 6 events as the end of the world instead of taking a breath, waiting a day or two, and taking a look at what really happened. I said then and I say now that I care more about the burned-out taco stand or convenience store in Minneapolis than about the Capitol building and the delicate feelings of our pampered representatives.
Neither do I.
If you are a RINO or CINO you can’t move or even head fake in Trump’s direction without alienating all of your Orange Man Hating and Never Trumper friends. And if you make the mistake of moving or head faking in Trump’s direction, you will instantly alienate all of your new Pro-Trump friends once you start criticizing zTrump in an attempt to regain credibility with and get back into the good graces of your old Orange Man Hating and Never Trumper friends. It’s the old saw. People in the middle of the road get run over.

I hate McCarthy (he is a weasel), and will be happy if he is forced out. But honesty, he did take a breath, and never attacked Trump publicly or told him to resign. This was a private call a few days after Jan 6th, talking to a Trump hater, and he was still pretty calm. He just thought if Trump was going to be impeached and convicted, it would be better to resign instead of going through it. It became clear quickly that conviction would never happen, so resignation was moot.
Did you see Mitch’s very public attack on Trump regarding Jan. 6? It was much, much worse and, of course, done in public.
I, like Trump hate people who “bow and scrape”.

I agree. I hate defending McCarthy, but this isn’t that big a deal. The bigger story is what a dirtbag traitor Cheney is. I’d rather have her out of the party than McCarthy.

I disagree with you a little. While I don’t blame Trump for what happened at the Capitol, I don’t have a lot of sympathy for those who engaged in violence that day. To me they are no better then the violent leftists we saw attacking the White House. The Capitol building is the property of the People of the United States and a building steeped in history. Protesting is totally acceptable but Throwing a temper tantrum, bashing up the place and fighting with the police accomplished nothing except made Trump supporters look like BLM maniacs totally disrespectful of our history. Those violent, destructive actions set our cause back immeasurably and was a huge mistake.

Certainly no sympathy for the violence. But I REALLY have no tolerance for the hyperbole. I’ve heard these lies again and again over the decades and it is really terrifying to see DOJ sweeping up so many who are guilty at most of aggravated tourism.
