Czechs also have country music fans, and at least a couple radio stations with American-style country music. That's amazing. I have in my collection a Czech-language Western Swing recording from the 1940's by a group from Texas. A lot of Czechs went to Texas and settled in Ennis and other places.

Later Van Ronck researched the song and learned it was really about a womans reformatory in New Orleans. I haven't heard that story, but it sounds plausible. The song almost certainly goes way back before 1933.
