A judge’s decision to let an effort to block Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) from running for office proceed could open a new avenue of attack against some of the GOP’s most controversial lawmakers.
Experts say it remains to be seen what the result of the single decision will be, but it’s unlikely such an effort will knock Greene, or any other candidate, off the ballot. It could, however, give Democrats another opportunity to hit the GOP over the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol and force lawmakers to testify under oath.
Meanwhile, Republicans are warning the effort could backfire in the future.
While many said they were surprised the effort got the green light, some Republicans are accusing Obama-appointed Judge Amy Totenberg of holding liberal leanings that have politicized the process.
“The judge is incredibly liberal, so it doesn’t surprise me that she would do that but I was very surprised they even let that thing go through,” said Jay Williams, a Georgia-based Republican strategist.
Totenberg’s decision means that Greene will be called to testify on Friday, making her the first member of Congress to testify under oath about the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol.
The challenge, which was filed by the group Free Speech for the People on behalf of a group of Georgia voters last month with the Georgia secretary of state’s office, accuses the congresswoman of helping to facilitate the riot, which they say violates a provision of the 14th Amendment and makes her ineligible to run for reelection.
The amendment says no one can serve in Congress “who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress … to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same.”

republicans should file complaints against every democrat who spoke out in favor of or took other actions to support the nationwide rioting in 2020. THAT was the lead-up to the real insurrection that occurred in November 2020.

Indeed, Trump and preventing him from running again are precisely the reason for everything from the last impeachment to the COVID Scam to the destruction of the economy to the purging of our military to the open border.
Trump and the immensely popular support he enjoys from conservative Americans are the greatest threat the political elites and Deep State have ever faced. Trump and his supporters are fully capable of destroying their continued dominamce and very existence.

Thought exercise:
GOP takes over the House in 2022.
The direction of the investigation into Jan 6 changes to look for false flag type of involvement. For example, authorizing the unlocking of doors and other actions to “enable” the protesters and portray them as insurrectionists.
Can we now use that information to keep Dems off the ballot?
This could easily turn into a two edge sword. A far better ruling would have only allowed removal from the ballot upon conviction in a court of law.
You cannot tell us who we may vote for and who we may not. That is when bad things happen.

In 2016 the GOP really didn’t want DJT to be their nominee let alone become POTUS. It spent the first two years throwing monkey wrenches into his administration’s plans and the following two as spectators at the impeachment debacle. The people the GOP advised him to appoint and subsequently confirmed were often useless. Then came the back stabbing of “The Steal!”
It would not surprise me one bit to see the GOP itself use this “avenue” to keep him off various state primary ballots.
Has Representative Greene been charged, tried, or convicted of insurrection by any court? Has she admitted to being involved in any insurrection? If ‘insurrection’ is questioning the outcome of an election, then are Al Gore and Hillary Clinton also ‘insurrectionists’?
The Dems are a nasty hateful lot, starting with confirming judges, then with the misuse of impeachment, and now this. It’s way beyond ridiculous.
