KYIV, April 21 (Reuters) - President Vladimir Putin claimed victory in the biggest battle of the Ukraine war on Thursday, declaring the port of Mariupol "liberated" after nearly two months of siege, despite hundreds of defenders still holding out inside a giant steel works.
In a televised meeting with his defence minister inside the Kremlin, Putin said there was no need for a final confrontation with the last defenders who were boxed in after surviving nearly two months of Russia's siege.
"I consider the proposed storming of the industrial zone unnecessary," he told Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu in a televised meeting at the Kremlin. "I order you to cancel it."
"There's no need to climb into these catacombs and crawl underground through these industrial facilities," he said. "Block off this industrial area so that not even a fly can get through."
Shoigu estimated 2,000 Ukrainian fighters remained inside the plant. Putin called on them to lay down their weapons and surrender, saying Russia would treat them with respect.

Oh, what a big brain move. Make your troops sit there encircling one spot on the map and unable to advance and make any progress.
There won’t be any peace until your boy Putin stops his temper tantrum and orders his armies back to Russia where they belong.
Even if he manages to defeat the Ukrainian army somehow, he’ll just be facing a permanent insurgency as long as they try to occupy the country. So they’ll be leaving sooner or later, the only question is: how many Russians need to be killed to satisfy Putin’s ego?
Putin’s smart. Eventually they will get hungry and give it up.

All you need to do is look at the utter devastation of cities like Mariopul, Chernihiv, Kharkiv and many other areas.
Literally, destroyed, like WWII.
Indicriminate shelling and missiles into residential areas.

The course of the Vietnam War was changed by the Communist Party's detailed and elaborate morphing of their Ban the Bomb organization to become the Anti Vietnam War coalition in 1963 and our dear government's indifferent support for our own troops - or willingness to prosecute active treason.
The neo Nazis especially in Mauripol and Kharkov used civilians as human shields and shot their own civilians and blamed it on Russia. There are numerous reports of it from Ukrainian civilians on the ground.
I watched a video the other day where a group of Russian soldiers were standing by the side of a building and a civilian walked out in the street on the other side and got shot from behind. The one Russian soldier just looked at the camera and said “that wasn’t us”. It appeared to me that it wasn’t.

I don’t believe any propaganda which frees me up to look at things objectively. When the dust clears in a few weeks or months I believe we will see a much different picture than what is being ginned up by the MSM.
