There were plenty of troops in Bataan. Most of them of the Philippine Army, which started out untrained and disorganized but by the surrender were quite proficient. The real problem is that they ran out of food and were consequently starving and sick.
26th Cavalry, Philippine Scouts and Philippine Constabulary were high performing troops. The remaining while many showed individual courage and skill never really were very successful as units. They likely correspond to the Ukies’ territorials and recent volunteers.
