A group of 26 Republican governors is launching a multi-state partnership to secure the southern border as the number of migrants being detained and appearing at the border continues to increase.
The American Governors’ Border Strike Force will target cartels and criminal groups by increasing collaboration, improving intelligence, combating human smuggling, and stopping drug flow among each of the participating states, according to a group memorandum outing its mission.
"President Biden has failed to secure the border, and it has deteriorated into a warzone that is threatening all of our communities," South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem told Fox News. "South Dakota has sent the National Guard to the border. Republican Governors are launching a Border Strike Force to secure our communities and partner together to protect our people."
The initiative is modeled after the Arizona Border Strike Force launched by Gov. Doug Ducey in 2015. That program has resulted in the seizure of 801 pounds of heroin and 985 pounds of fentanyl, among other drug seizures, since it started, Ducey's office said.
"What we’re doing in Arizona works," he said in a statement. "But this is not just an Arizona issue, it’s a national issue. If our entire southern border isn’t secure, our nation isn’t secure. As dangerous transnational criminal organizations continue to profit from holes in the border and fill our communities with drugs, it’s no coincidence that we’re seeing historic levels of opioid-related deaths."
The other states involved in the effort are: Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia and Wyoming.

We would have a completed fence if the GOP had cooperated with Trump instead of fighting him.

While in Panama, Secretary Blinken will meet with President Laurentino Cortizo Cohen, Foreign Minister Erika Mouynes, multilateral development banks, international financial institutions, international organizations, and NGOs to discuss economic recovery; migration; protection for refugees, asylum seekers, and vulnerable migrants; anti-corruption efforts; and support for civil society, in addition to other regional and bilateral issues of importance to the United States and Panama. The Secretary will also tour the Panama Canal to review this vital component of regional and international trade and host a roundtable discussion with regional civil society leaders focused on transparency and anti-corruption efforts, a growing challenge for democracy and economic stability in the hemisphere.
Through this visit, the Secretary will draw further attention and excitement in the region towards the Ninth Summit of the Americas in Los Angeles, California on June 6-10, 2022, where Western Hemisphere leaders will expand on efforts to address our hemisphere’s most pressing issues with the aim of building a sustainable, resilient, and equitable future.
Why did they wait so long?
It’s about freeking time. I was just complaining to the missus that all that needs to done is the states just uphold the laws. And i think abbott is useless. Glad to see 26 states together. Makes it harder for the feds to gang up on them.
And they should be Unified in attaching the Income,Tips,Wages and Assets of ALL Federal Employee’s present in the State to pay for it.
“Why did they wait so long”?
They don’t have a magic wand. I read that they’ve been working on this for quite a while.

Yeah, that’s the point, too little, too late.
NO! God Bless these warriors and keep them safe! They will need all the help they can get!
Targeting criminals! Good grief!
Target every one of the migrant invaders, criminal or not...
Criminals are a flag to wave...
Most (probably 90%) of the invaders are just economically poor & uneducated looking for the big freebie payoff (welfare/education/healthcare) at our (the taxpayers) expense...
Target them all...
Reject and/or deport them all...
Never mind more “election-year” crap...
A-10 Warthogs to the southern border!
Spectacular fence jumping.
It’s an invasion. It needs to be stopped.
This has been bipartisan policy for 30 years.
It is why they cooperated to cheat Trump out.
They’re making up for lost time by throwing the door wide open.
They're going to be bringing in the population of Pittsburgh, every 2 weeks.
Unskilled, uneducated, diseased...
Where will they go?
How will they survive?
Welfare, of course.
They will further bankrupt us.
Destroy the medical system.
Destroy our, already, destroyed public schools.
Overwhelm the legal system.
All according to plan.
Oh...and they'll vote Rat.
Virginia’s great Gov. Youngkin is part of this group. Thank you Gov. Youngkin!
