The White House said Americans should pay higher taxes to ensure a rapid green transition away from fossil fuels in a report on President Joe Biden’s economic record.
The federal government can encourage such a shift through carbon taxes or a cap and trade system forcing an emissions limit on companies, said the Council of Economic Advisers (CEA) report released last week. The White House added that consumers would continue purchasing “artificially inexpensive, carbon-intensive goods” without proper government policies in place.
A “cap and trade” system creates a limit for how much greenhouse gas companies can emit. If a company goes over the limit, they would be fined or they could purchase credits from a company that was below the limit. “Complementary policies can make it cheaper or easier to conserve energy or to shift away from carbon-intensive products,” the White House economic report added. Just 44% of Americans support a carbon tax while 29% oppose the policy, a 2019 Associated Press survey showed. But 80% of respondents said they backed tougher restrictions on power plant emissions and 73% supported a tax on corporate emissions, according to a June 2020 poll by Pew Research.

Perfect time to talk about taxes! LOL
Summary: You will pay us more now to build inefficient and unreliable energy and afterwards, you’ll pay companies even more to have that energy.
Embrace the healing power of guillotines when you think of the left. And of congress-critters.
And what percentage of the atmosphere is CO2?
They will ruin the country…free country..I don’t think so…
“The federal government can encourage such a shift through carbon taxes or a cap and trade system forcing an emissions limit on companies . . .”
As long as the federal government is only going to raise taxes on companies, fine.
What I would worry about is the government doing something to increase costs to consumers.
That is...unless you take matters into your own free American hands and do solar yourself. If you live in the southern half of the U.S., own your home, and have space on your land clear from shade where you can point solar panels towards the south, solar is a good option. I installed a solar system 11 months ago and it's produced 57% of all the power we've consumed in our all-electric two-story house.
If you do it yourself (or have a professional solar installer do it) you can optimize it specifically for your power consumption habits and make it efficient. That's something that can't be done when the Dims force a one-size-fits-all solution by trying to make utility companies "go green". That's why I'm on track for mine to pay off in the 10th year (including paying the interest on the HELOC I took out to purchase it).
inflation through the roof, gas prices through the roof, and Biden proposed solution?
MORE TAXES!!!!
rofl
20’s polling here we come!
At some point non compliance needs to start…
People are so f’ing retarded.
If you raise taxes on those corporations, they will be passed on.
I need to move to a country of like 2000 people…
They pass the increased costs on to consumers.
-—Taxes——
The White House statement was made in full knowledge of the fact that the President lacks the political power to do anything except issue flawless written press releases

“They pass the increased costs on to consumers.”
Has the Easter Bunny told Joe about this?
you will pay more, freeze, have intermittent electricity,
and have no cars or planes.
hint: they will be warm, and fly everywhere you cannot.
Funny. Although sarcasm, there are way too many people out there who actually think this way.
The idea that we can get to zero emissions by taxing fossil fuel and subsidizing wind and solar is stupid on its face:
If you lower the use of fossil fuel to nothing THERE’S NOTHING TO TAX.
Stupid stuff like this questions whether the other side actually believes in climate crisis or if they’re using climate crisis the way Putin uses Russia’s nuclear bombs, as a fear tactic, in order to bully us into submission.
It’s time for us to stand up to the bullies. There’s more of us than them. And, besides, they’re not as tough as they would have us believe.
Wow! Talk about stupidity in high gear! We sure don’t need more taxes, especially at this time in history. Nor do we need any transition to “green energy” which can only serve to make a bad situation worse. I don’t know who the Council of Economic Advisers consists of, but they need to find a whole new group of folks who have their heads on straight. As far as a cap & trade system on emissions, it’s been my understanding that we already have the lowest emissions in the world here in the U.S. This is the stupidest bit of information I’ve read in a long time. A smart grade schooler could show more intelligence than this article does.
