There's a story coming out of Germany which is advising people to think twice about having a hot shower.

This is what the authorities in Germany are now warning the German public about.

The head of the Federal Network Agency of Germany, Klaus Mueller, said in an interview with NTV:
"You will have to actually ask yourselves a question - whether you really need to take a hot shower seven days a week with gas heating. So everyone in Germany - ask yourself a question - do you really need to take a hot shower?"

His words echoed a similar statement earlier by European commissioner for competition Margareth Vestiger, who advised EU residents to "Control your own and your teenager's showers and when you turn off the water say 'take that, Putin!'"

Advising has a way of turning into mandates, quickly.

This was BEFORE the Russian invasion of the Ukraine....

"Klaus Müller: From reminder to head of the Federal Network Agency"

"As early as October last year, Müller warned that gas prices would be too high in winter and called on the federal government to take action in impressive words: “There is a risk of terrible energy prices.” Müller recently criticized the one-time heating subsidy for housing benefit recipients of at least 135 euros planned by Housing and Building Minister Klara Geywitz (SPD) as too low to compensate for the increased energy costs. “At least 500 euros per household” would be appropriate."
