JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - The Southern Poverty Law Center Mississippi state director, Waikinya Clanton, released a statement condemning Governor Tate Reeves’ proclamation of Confederate Heritage Month.
“Despite every effort from the people of Mississippi to pave a new way forward, leaders like Governor Reeves remain fixated on undermining the public’s will for a brighter, better, and more inclusive Mississippi,” said Clanton.
The entire statement is shown below.
“It is unfortunate that the governor chooses to glorify the Confederacy—a traitorous government that fought against the United States for the right to enslave Blacks. Despite the historical vote to remove the Confederate battle emblem from the state flag in 2020, more than 150 Confederate memorials remain in Mississippi—including 72 roadways, 48 monuments, and eight schools. These memorials celebrate the injustices that people of color in the South suffered at the hands of Confederates who viewed Black people as subhuman and unworthy of the freedom to exist in this country.
The hypocrisy of recognizing April as both Genocide Awareness and Confederate Heritage Month is both a slap in the face to more than 1.1 million people of color who live in the state and are constantly haunted by the lifelong effects of systemic racism, hatred, and bigotry.

Southern Poverty Law Center = just another Marxist organization... we have many :-/
In retaliation, I will condemn the BLM movement and Kwanzaa as systemic racism, hatred and bigotry in return.
CHM organizers condem the splc assclown money machine. A race baiting crew if ever there was one. Making big bank off the backs of bipocs. It’s what they do.
Ever done research on how Kwanzaa was invented?.......the whole concept is an abomination.
Don’t care what the The Southern Poverty Law Center thinks about anything.
It truly is.
Just what I want.
Mark Potok to pass judgment on this.

If the South had been allowed to peacefully secede, there’s a good chance that the 50 states would be fully autonomous entities.
Slavery would’ve died a natural death in 20 years, with the onset of technology. The Tariff of Abominations would have been rescinded, and foreign adventurism which led to both world wars would never have been tolerated.
But, NEA history books don’t dare explore that rational.
I would because they’re successfully targeting southern monuments and getting them removed.
I condemn black history month and the soon to be created gay history month in June.
Why does the SPLC hate education?
That’s OK, the south condemns the southern poverty law center. So there!
Your post is spot on. Thank you!
I never heard of Confederate Heritage Month, but if Southern Poverty Law Center condemns it, then I’m on board with celebrating. Must check it out.
I make sure my tv never gets anywhere near the PBS channels during February.
The Southern Poverty Law Center is a subversive organization and should not be taken seriously by anyone!!!!
Leftists proclaim that diversity is our strength.
Then they spend their time trying to stamp out anyone and anything that isn’t in total agreement with them.
Agreed
America, or what ever it would be called would be a ‘’multicultural’’ mess, a ghetto of squabbling minorities and majorities. And an illegal, racist entity created by a bunch of treasonous Southern Democrats in my opinion is nothing to celebrate. Are any of you an American or a Confederate?
Southern. Poverty. Law. Center. Is it located in the South ... or is that just where it meddles? Does it do something to end poverty ... or is it trying to increase it? Does it follow the law ... challenge the law ... or try to make more laws? Is it a place for like-minded people to hang out and play team games ... or is it a mind-hive for people who hate conservative ideas? Every time I see their name in the media it is related to them labeling groups they don’t agree with as hateful. Maybe they should change their name to ... The. Hate. Patrol.
