BUSINESS & LOBBYING Abbott border inspections threaten fresh produce supply in US BY KARL EVERS-HILLSTROM - 04/15/22 5:18 PM ET SHARE TWEET ... MORE

Getty Images Semi-trucks wait for inspection before crossing the border at the Zaragoza International Bridge, in Juarez, Mexico, across the border from El Paso, Texas on May 31, 2019. – President Donald Trump escalated his abrupt tariff threats against Mexico, triggering alarm about the likely economic fallout, spooking global markets and raising the prospect of US trade wars on multiple fronts. Trump unexpectedly announced his readiness to levy tariffs on all Mexican imports, beginning at five percent starting June 10 and rising monthly to as high as 25 percent until Mexico substantially reduces the flow of illegal immigration. (Photo by Paul Ratje / AFP) (Photo credit should read PAUL RATJE/AFP via Getty Images) Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s (R) order to increase inspections on commercial trucks entering the state from Mexico could threaten the supply of fresh produce in the U.S. and raise food prices for weeks after traffic begins flowing again.

Hundreds of millions of dollars worth of fruits and vegetables hauled through the southern border are at risk after the new inspection program and ensuing protests caused miles-long traffic jams.

“The damage has been done. I’ve got members reporting that trucks are finally starting to show up that were stuck in those lines for three to five days, and some are saying that product is just unusable, rotten and leaking out of trailers,” said Dante Galeazzi, president and CEO of the Texas International Produce Association.

Funny how the Mexican Army can drive across the bridge willy nilly.

So while our country is being overrun by criminal invaders thanks to the Biden regime, the Hill puts out an “alarming” screed about the threat of rotten bananas? Hilarious!

It’s not Abbott’s border policy that’s the problem. It’s Biden’s border policy that is causing all the problems.

IF they are PROPERLY transported in REFRIGERATED trucks-—2 days won’t cause spoilage.

I guess I look at it in somewhat of an alternative manner. Growers, workers and many other middlemen in Mexico working, in Mexico, to produce goods wanted in the US.

I think I’d much rather have a free flow of that than supporting a California liberal-controlled vegetable produce machine that uses the taxes, etc. to impose California’s leftist will on the country.

It’s the Biden fresh produce shortage. His policies are responsible for actions that Abbott is taking.

They have to remove the refrigeration units to keep the extra cocaine and Fentanyl from making them overweight.
