Scott Jennings: Is Andy Beshear becoming a liberal culture warrior taking on trans rights?
Yahoo News ^ | 4/14/2022 | Scott Jennings

Posted on 04/14/2022 6:56:32 PM PDT by Republican Wildcat

Last week, Beshear vetoed Senate Bill 83, legislation that would restrict girls’ high school and college sports to only those students whose birth certificate registered them as female.

...

With that veto, along with vetoes striking down bans on teaching critical race theory and abortions after 15-weeks, a governor who had previously kept his head down in our national culture wars jumped out of the left-wing foxhole with a fixed bayonet.

Make them take a side. Don’t let them weasel out.

This is one of the key lessons all conservatives must learn from Trump.

That very last sentence has some vivid imagery:
“..he jumped out of a left wing foxhole with a fixed bayonet”

I want Baby Doc Beshear to be tarred with all of that.

He owns the teachers union and the public employee unions, but now that he has grabbed this tar baby maybe some of the normally conservative people here will not vote for him just because he is Papa Doc Beshear’s corrupt offspring.

He was a corrupt AG and should never been permitted to become governor.

I’m really hoping Daniel Cameron (cusrretn AG) runs against him.

Yep, he’s bending over backwards, to prove that he is liberal. He wants to attract national attention, and make AOC and Nancy Pelosi happy.

Whether that pays off for him in Kentucky, remains to be seen.

I guess he figures if he’s going to go down in flames, he might as well go down screaming “Top of the world Ma!” Like James Cagney in White Heat.

Beshear is as liberal as can be. He was sued by churches for trying to restrict worship during covid...but he still pretended he had “authority”. The only reason he was on every day was to scare people into complying with idiotic rules.

He’s loved by the Branch Covidians death cult he saved them from covid! The pro-jab proselytizers-some FR jabers would worship this goober. He is the darling of the pedo loving public school teachers who are blindingly stupid in that his daddy stole their retirement funds and being the educated of the state what do they do, why they support jr and act like brats to the man who was actually funding their retirement fund. He’s adored in the golden triangle of Lexington, Louisville and Covington, the rest of the state can’t stand Jr.

If the GOP runs the right candidate they can beat him. McConnell needs to stay far-far away from this election as he is hated in KY by conservatives.

McConnel has deep pockets lined by China and whenever he goes local he talks a good conservative game. I don't know how Bevin lost...man he was solid.

I figure uncle Andy will be out next year. I believe he won in a dry run of the strategy used to steal the presidential election from Trump. Sure, Bevin had his problems, and he was trying to reign in an out of control state budget, ticking off the teachers, but even if the election wasn’t stolen, the win was only fueled by hatred of Bevin whose ox were being gored by his sane policies.

That won’t be there next year. Add to that the simple fact that republicans swept everything last election cycle except for Beshear, and the fact that Democrats have only become LESS popular since then.

Also, a lot of people don’t know this, but during the Bevin years, Beshear was the AG. And he treated his position as though his sole function was to use the courts to stop or undo everything Bevin attempted. And don’t forget that Bevin was trying to undo a lot of stuff the previous governor had done. And THAT governor was Andy’s father.

You don't? During that primary he made a complete fool of himself multiple times including going to a cockfighting rally and then denying it...of course forced to admit it when the video surfaced. Not to mention McConnell, if nothing else, knows how to campaign masterfully.

Bevin ran a much better campaign for governor in 2015. Unfortunately he reverted for his campaign for re-election in 2019.

Beshear? The Beshears are definitely not Republicans - in name only or otherwise.

If I had to guess it will probably be Ryan Quarles, who will have Allison Ball as his running mate, Daniel Cameron will run for re-election and Cameron will then run for Senate with McConnell not running for another term...wouldn’t surprise me if McConnell steps down early if Quarles wins.

Andy is just like his old man. A corrupt liberal Democrat.

As someone else noted, his term as AG was 99% devoted to throwing sand in the gears of everything fiscally responsible that Bevin tried to do. He is dirty.
