*** A lawbreaker, caught while escaping, remains uncooperative, fights back, tries to disarm the cop...and the cop’s reaction of self-defense is “over the top”. ***
Close quarters, gun to the back of the head, you bet your arse it’s over the top. If you don’t have an issue with that kind of policing, you and I will have to disagree.
Hood argument for a sidearm with a manual safety, as well.

Yeah, he should have shot the guy in the FOOT!
We don’t know the exact circumstances yet. The perp may have just gotten control of the taser and the officer had only a split second to fire. No time to aim for his foot/leg.
A “LIFE OR DEATH MOMENT” You CAN’T put yourself there in that officer’s place.
I actually believe it was an accident. There was a lot of scuffling going on and, maybe: A) cop had his finger on the trigger with a subsequent jerk or knock of his arm, hand, etc...boom - B) something got caught in the trigger guard (equipment, clothing) and...boom. Coulda been a “wardrobe malfunction”.
Yeah! you and #7 can rationalize this anyway you want. the cop was justified and the pert got what he should have known was coming.
He was not face down on the ground. It was in the middle of the struggle with a gun to his back.
