Mauripol is in Donetsk. Donetsk, Luhansk, and Crimea oblasts declared independence in 2014. They have been fighting the against a bitter Ukrainian Government since then. Russia is one of the few nations that recognize these independent states. Liberation is most likely the correct term.

They would have leveled it last month. As to unwanted/uninvited, that depends on where in Ukraine. In this area, it’s a liberation, clearly.

To be fair, they were welcomed in many places where Ukrainians have been killing and raping for 8 years. There are so many similarities to Bosnia here it’s uncanny.
