When my oldest son was in the 5th grade, he went through a period where he would routinely lie about anything and everything. Finally, I sat him down and told him straight out that I was perfectly prepared to make him hate my guts if that is what it took to raise him the right way.

Parent do a disservice to their children when they try to be their best buddy. Good parenting sometimes involves forcing children to make difficult, but sound decisions. Gender decisions are not for children or their parents, and good parents will not let it happen under their purview. This decision should be reserved for healthy, well-adjusted adults on their own behalf who understand the ramifications of the decision. Encouragement to make that choice should never be permitted by a groomer painting a fantasy-laden picture of what it will be like. Other adults who facilitate minors making such decisions deserve to be removed from the gene pool . . . that is evil.
