What children should be taught about sex and gender, and when, has become a hot topic across the country. But parents didn’t choose this — it was forced upon them.
Starting in September, New Jersey first-graders will learn about gender identity under new sex education guidelines. Parents received sample lesson plans at a Westfield Board of Education meeting in February; one read, “You might feel like you’re a boy even if you have body parts that some people might tell you are ‘girl’ parts. You might feel like you’re a girl even if you have body parts that some people might tell you are ‘boy’ parts. And you might not feel like you’re a boy or a girl, but you’re a little bit of both. No matter how you feel, you’re perfectly normal!”
Setting aside the appropriateness of teaching 7-year-olds that their gender is malleable, the New Jersey news comes on the heels of massive leftist outrage over the Parental Rights in Education bill signed by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis — a law that many on the left called “unnecessary.”
The Florida law prevents instruction on sexual orientation and gender identity. And while leftist activists, and their media assistants, have targeted the bill as “Don’t Say Gay,” despite the fact that straight is also a sexual orientation, parents I have spoken to specifically point to gender lessons as the reason they support the bill.
The Washington Post editorial board came out against the law, of course, saying, “There is no justifiable reason for any of these measures. They are all rooted in the anachronistic belief that discussions about gender and sexuality somehow endanger children.”

Yeah, yeah - home school your kids. Great. Yeah, I'm totally down, but that's all easier said than done sometimes. And frankly, I don't hate my kid's school all that much and I think her principal is pretty good guy (doesn't seem to be particularly "woke" to me). And other than her propensity to spell certain words incorrectly, she's doing quite well academically, especially in math.
So I like the school and would prefer not to pull her out, but this BS is making it very difficult not to make a move. I just don't understand why they need to teach this stuff to pre-pre pubescents. This subject matter is for high school.
What the hell can we do about it??? Bitching and moaning and groaning about it at BoE meetings doesn't seem like it does all that much....
"they are not your children any more. they are Biden's."
That’s so gay!
Even if I skipped the first few lines of your post I could have guessed you were from New Jersey.
Read it a few times and you’ll see what I’m talking about.
They just wanted to be left alone....
... Only 19 years since Lawrence v Texas....
Sadly, most conservatives moved out of NJ over the past 10 years or so. We are one of those people. Now what’s left are a handful of “let’s get along” Republicans and crazy leftists.
It’s sad, it’s really getting worse in that state. BTW, their “single use bag ban” goes into effect in 3 weeks. More stupidness...
How on earth can there be enough people who want to teach this stuff to kids? Are there really that many demented people out there?
Yep, they only wanted to get married and be left alone they said. You bigots just need to keep yourselves out of other people’s bedrooms they said. THey’re not hurting anybody they said.
All lies... they were groomers all along and they’re using the power of the government to try to get their hands on your kids.
We don't try to teach Calculus to 1st graders because they are not yet ready for it. Why then SEX SEX SEX?
I understand the challenges of pulling out of government schools, so I do say this very mildly — the local schools are never as good as they seem. Many people feel lucky that they have a good situation, their school isn’t like those others schools, and their child is really doing quite well in the local school. I would estimate that in about 95% of the cases, the parent is operating under a delusion, and the local situation is significantly worse than it appears.
But I comment from a distance, so obviously I cannot really know your situation.
Are we at the “cornered puppy” stage yet?
Surely you jest!
What’s next? ‘Teachers’ telling children in kindergarten there’s no Santa?
This stuff is NOT up to them - it’s the prerogative of parents... and needs to stay that way.
The solution is for parents to be given vouchers for the full amount of money the school spends per student. Then parents can take that money/voucher and buy their child’s education at any school they choose.
And all the bitching and moaning in the world won’t change what these true believers will implement. Your arguments are simply outdated and immoral in today’s society. That is what your “professional educators” truly believe and will continue to ram down your throat until a few dozen of them are ventilated permanently.... at which point the rest will then get quiet and wait until your back is turned again.
MOST teachers don't want to do this any more than the parents want it....the local school boards decide. Vote THEM out to fix the problem (at least temporarily).
In 2003 many were still denying they wanted to corrupt the concept of marriage.
NJ consistently votes for Democrats. Perhaps they will wake up and understand that everything they touch turns to shit.
Did the nation choose BiteMe...?
Seems many of the School administrators in NJ are closet Pedos since they demand to teach sex ed to 5 year olds.
New Jersey did without a doubt.
