Russian President Vladimir Putin, left, poses with Col. Gen. Alexander Dvornikov during an awarding ceremony in Moscow, Russia, on March 17, 2016, Alexei Nikolsk—Sputnik, Kremlin/AP
Russia is believed to have reorganized its military leadership in Ukraine, appointing General Alexander Dvornikov as its new commander, reports say.
Western officials told the BBC that Dvornikov, a general who played a significant role in the Russian bombardment of Syria, has been put in charge by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Dvornikov has been tasked with "improving coordination between Russian forces in Ukraine," the outlet said.
The move comes as Russia restrategizes and shifts its focus to Ukraine's Donbas region, after its invasion stalls in much of the country.

The Institute for the Study of War cited in the article, The Russian Military’s Lessons Learned In Syria, full pdf, was published in January 2021. Dvornikov was mentioned throughout the article on command and control issues.
On the surface, he looks like a good choice for the Russians to take over from whoever was previously in charge (whoever that was).
Before Russia invaded, the intel report on the invasion order was that individual units were responsible for their own maneuver plans. It seemed ludicrous at the time, but it appears that was actually their “plan”.

I’ve run across a Bitchute channel giving the Ukraine war perspective from the Russian side.

No matter how you feel about Russia, Ukraine, Putin or Zelensky, it’s wise to consider the POV of the other side, if only to be more informed so that you can make better judgements.
Even an anti-Putin anti-invasion Ukraine supporter should see what is filling the TV screens back in Russia.
It’s nothing at all like the full-blast “Ukraine is winning, Russians are being wiped out, go Ukraine” propaganda we’re getting 24/7 in Europe and America, that is for sure.
There are multiple reports of this....
Ummm, yes, like Russian collusion, pee bed in Moscow, 2 white guys in MAGA hats....on & on.
“Dvornikov has been tasked with ‘improving coordination between Russian forces in Ukraine,’ the outlet said.”
Impossible. I have it on good authority that every Russian military action has come off smoothly and is All Part of Putin’s Plan.©️
Sounds like Putin’s instructions to the general may be: OK, no more Mr. Nice Guy!
On the surface, he looks like a good choice for the Russians

If you’ve seen Grozny or Aleppo you have seen this butchers handiwork.
He has previously only commanded VKF forces and has no experience with large ground forces of various compositions over a large territory.
He must produce a victorious result before May 9th
Meanwhile, the other generals, used to maneuvering on their own, may not like what he orders and still do things on their own.
I know it doesn’t matter, but you would expect an important general to pose for such a picture in a uniform which fits.
From now on civilians will be the official primary target of Russian military operations.
Same as in Syria.

Russian troops in Ukraine will bear the burden for this.
Maybe Russia shouldn’t have a cold, sadistic KGB agent running their country?
Different Commanders have different expertise....just like doctors or lawyers...
Send in the hunter killer drones and sniper teams as soon as he shows up.
He wont last a month, lol
“..Even an anti-Putin anti-invasion Ukraine supporter should see what is filling the TV screens back in Russia.”
Totally agree. Following Russian SMI supports and invigorates one’s political immune system. Nothing short of Third Reich quality, sometimes even exceeds that. The thug who wrote this at RIA Novosti site seems to be a long-time employee at Völkischer Beobachter:

If Dvornikov is now in charge, he's now in charge, no matter how its reported.
What Russian army “ mauling” outside Kiev?
Some units staged back to Belarus ( wise move out of attack threat)
While others are redeploying to the Donbass battlefront,
enough Russian forces remain to keep at least 15K ukrainian forces pinned near Kiev for defense….and not available for the eastern battlefront
The Russians did not target “civilians” in Syria
They targeted ISIS and other islamist radicals living among civilians and holding entire villages in terror
Civilian casualties occurred but the Russians were pretty successful at either killing militants or negotiating with them and village chiefs, and persuading those that could not accept reconciliation to leave and take their wives and sex slaves to Idlib on luxury busses
Mattis, on the other hand, just went scorched earth to wipe out ISIS
The whole take is propaganda and nonsense.
I have been patiently waiting for our media to tell the truth about something, maybe if an actress has a boob job? A puppy rescued from a well? Nope, they put the puppy in there with a string attached to its collar. And the actress had nice boobs before. Oh well.
That lends credibility to the claim 29 Russian Battalion Tactical Groups have so many losses they are now combat ineffective and will need to be rebuilt to be more than cannon fodder. This also explains why Russia has given up on Kyiv and is focusing on the east (where the oil and natural gas is).
What is said about Russian movements also applies to Ukraine. Russia is also holding back some forces near Kyiv and Ukraine is redeploying forces to the east as well. Ukraine is fully mobilizing and getting support, while Russia is not and its military production is facing cutbacks due to sanctions.
Their intelligence regarding Russian collusion was as good as it gets. Sure it was totally fabricated, but who knew?
