[For some reason the pro-Putin crowd wants to make excuses for the barbaric behavior of the Russian army. I doubt many of them can even explain to themselves why they think that way. ]

A good chunk of this is the simple-minded assumption that the enemy (Putin) of my enemy (the Deep State) is my friend. The problem is that Putin’s media is egging on much of the wokeness, with articles parroting the left’s line that the US is hell on earth, thanks to a no-bag-limit open season on blacks, and so on. And the principal issue, from the standpoint of US interests, is that the Russian occupation of Ukraine means any Russian invasion of the West would get a leg up, from the addition of 45m Ukrainians, natural resources and better proximity to the crown jewel of European industrial power - Germany.

Some people assume the Russians are always going to be ruled by clowns and kleptos like Putin. That won’t always be the case. If it were ruled by someone competent like Hitler, utilizing Russia’s vast human talent pool and its resources to the fullest, we’d be in real trouble.

On another point with our national debt much higher than our GDP, we are essentially a bankrupt country. We have no business sending arms to ANY FOREIGN country by borrowing more debt. Broke people should not act macho and act as world police. We should not be pro-Ukraine or pro-Russia. We are broke and need to clean house first.
