Two Alabama men are accused of inciting or encouraging a riot after authorities said messages were spread online encouraging the spring break “takeover” of a Florida beach town, authorities said.
More than 160 people were arrested, about 75 illegal guns were confiscated and several businesses closed during a wild weekend late last month in Panama City Beach, police said.
Social media influencers and others promoted “Panamaniac” on Facebook and other social media platforms, authorities said.
Demarion Ty’Quan Cooper, 20 and Rashad Boyce Glasper, 25, were arrested Thursday at their homes in the Alabama cities of Troy and Wetumpka, police said.

I try to take my kids to PCB every summer and we always hit Pier Park. In summer, it’s a very nice place with no craziness at all. Lots of families and kids. My guess is that you went during spring break. I’ve never had the pleasure.
I remember in the military over fifty five years ago, the Southern Boys who had no use for blacks had friends who were Northern and Yankee.
In a discussion of race relations, the Yankees said they had no problem with blacks.
One of the Southern boys said that before they got discharged they would hate blacks, because the blacks would teach them to hate them.
Then we were separated. We saw them a year later and the Northern boys were so anti-black that even the Southern boys wanted nothing to do with them.
We never found out what had happened to make them change but they did say the Blacks made them hate blacks.
When I was in college in South Dakota, large crowds would show up to drink some of the little towns dry.
The small towns kind of liked it and prepared for it.

I have an uncle who was a teacher his whole life in Central Texas. He used "Shaniqua" as a generic reference to females with goofy names for years. I was working as the IT guy for a small, rural hospital and was running some CAT-V cable to our admissions office for a new piece of equipment. I'm on a ladder right in front of the admissions window and a Black TDC guard came in with a little girl, about 7 or 8. The admissions girl asked "What's the little girl's name?" In two part harmony my mind and the guard said "Shaniqua". I almost fell off the ladder and had to leave to compose myself.
