On Monday, former Republican and ex-congressman Joe Walsh fabricated a Tucker Carlson quote on Twitter. It immediately caught the attention of Democrats and anti-Trump Republicans who hope to see the Fox News host canceled.
Walsh attributed the following statement to Carlson: "What if these bodies of tortured, dead civilians were staged? What if they're fake? What if the Ukrainian military killed them and then blamed Russia? I'm not saying any of this is true, I'm just asking the questions. Why can't we ask these questions?"
The quote repeating Russia's propaganda and denial of war crimes in Bucha, Ukraine, instantly went viral. On Reddit, a screenshot of Walsh's post has nearly 60,000 upvotes with thousands of comments decrying what users believe are Carlson's traitorous views. But Twitter is where the fake quote found currency among powerful and influential figures close to the Democratic Party.

So what if Tucker said it?
He admitted he fabricated the quote and defended his action: “I was predicting what @TuckerCarlson would say ‘tonight.’...It’s EXACTLY the kind of thing Putin-lover Tucker would & has said.”
Bet we can all guess what Mr. Carlson will really comment on - another establishment liar posting fabricated crap to generate more "fake news"...
I hope Carlson sues Walsh, Twitter, and every outlet that allowed this. Walsh didn’t call it satire, and people presumed it was true without fact-checking first. Typical but this needs to be stopped!
Exactly what is wrong if Tucker did ask that. The media, the Pentagon, the Biden Administration, the Russian government and the Ukrainian government share one thing in common. None of them have any credibility.

I have my doubts about anything coming out of the Ukraine/Russian war. All the information we are getting is from duplicitous Marxist State Media and the corrupt 17 intelligence organizations who whole heartedly pushed the fake Trump Russia collusion hoax, Trump impeachment, etc. What ever they are saying, the opposite is probably true.
It’s exactly the questions that need to be asked in a fair exchange, to be honest. I’ve wondered, especially after some of Zelensky’s “predictions”. What do we really know about any of this that is true? Neither Zelensky or Putin are “nice” guys. I’m NOT taking sides in this, but praying for both sides for an end. It’s the innocent civilians that are the victims in anything like this and there are victims on both sides!
Why not indeed?
Pretty strange what’s coming out of Newsweek these days.
Did their editorial staff all die and get replaced by sense…?
So what if Tucker said it?
Because it's a lie. The Russian army has killed and continues to kill Ukrainian civilians. Remember the good old days when journalists weren't allowed to spew unverified theories on air and present it as actual news?
I know this particular quote is a leftist fabrication, but the reason it was initially believed is because Tucker has many actual pro-Russian quotes. I don't know what he's playing at. Russians call foreigners who spread their propaganda "useful idiots."
Because...Russia!
I wouldn’t put it past any country to kill civilians if it served their purpose.
I wouldn’t put it past any country to kill civilians if it served their purpose.
Like I said, journalists used to have standards of evidence before they opened their pieholes. If Tucker had any concrete evidence these Ukrainian civilians were shot by their own government rather than by the Russians, why didn't he share with the class?
He didn’t say it and even the false quote isn’t saying it. It’s a reasonable question to ask.
I wouldn’t put it past any country to kill civilians if it served their purpose.

When was this magical era?
IMO journalism in the US began its downward slide in 1987, when the Fairness Doctrine was repealed. Once news outlets no longer had to present both sides of a given story, they split into left-wing echo chambers and right-wing echo chambers, so dedicated to pushing their respective narratives they twisted facts to fit their story rather than twisting the story to fit the facts.
