Chris Wallace got into a heated exchange with “1619 Project” author and New York Times reporter Nikole Hannah-Jones, who told him that the generation that fought in World War II “brutally suppressed” black people.

Putting aside that Hannah-Jones is historically illiterate... does she think black people would have gotten better treatment from the Nazis and the Japanese?!

However, they were racist in the sense of believing that their own race was superior to the others, not in the sense that they hated other races, or would have done them any ill. Both my father and father-in-law were WW II generation, and I have to confess that there was no doubt they were racist. However, they were racist in the sense of believing that their own race was superior to the others, not in the sense that they hated other races, or would have done them any ill. They were creatures of their times.

One of my uncles served in Europe in WWII, then was called up for Korea when he had a wife and three children. He did his service valiantly. But he hated everyone: blacks, Jews, Asians ... you name it. But a good man nonetheless.
