Do you know the definition of insanity? It’s doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Sadly, this is precisely what socialists are trying to do.
Without exception, every socialist experiment throughout the world has failed over the past century. (And, in most cases, the failure is swift, messy, and disastrous.) Author Kristian Niemietz says it best in the title of his book, Socialism: The Failed Idea That Never Dies.
Socialism is, factually, a deeply flawed and failed idea. Yet it continues to be hailed as the savior. Even worse, it’s juxtaposed against capitalism as a superior alternative. (Despite the fact that capitalism has proved to be, without question, the most successful economic system in world history.)
It’s sad that we have to make a case for capitalism in 2022. Greedy, power-hungry politicians on the Left can’t seem to let the idea of socialism die. And if they have any say in it, they’ll let socialism run this country into the ground once and for all. It’s up to those of us with half a brain to continually shut them down and support the economic engine that’s turned America into the most powerful country in the modern world.

I have had many professed socialists say "OH...is that what it is?"
That's exactly what it is!
The case for capitalism
I prefer free enterprise.
I like the Market economy.
I have always considered myself to be a Capitalist.
But I think we deceive ourselves if we ignore the potential problems.
Mark Zuckerberg is a product of capitalism. Twitter, CNN, George Soros, Mitt Romney, the list goes on.
There are no ethics in Capitalism. It’s greed. And Gordon Gecko says “Greed is Good” and there is some truth to that. But there are problems too. Businessmen join with government and the cronies get deals. How do stop that? Saying, “That’s not Capitalism” doesn’t make the problem go away. How do you stop it?
I look at our consumer driven world of endless commercial manipulation driven by social media and other forces and, frankly, I don’t like what I see. That certainly doesn’t mean that I like Socialism better. It’s worse. But “the Market” is not a perfect solution.
Socialism is simply a tool to take control of a nation, its people and economy. It sounds good to people who are easily fooled or want something for nothing.
Definition: Saying again and again that "insanity is doing the same thing again and again expecting a different result" and expecting a different result.
I prefer free curly fries.
The Leviathan model is the traditional top-down complete control of the economy and social order. Supposedly this can be democratic as the people will be able to vote in their oppressors, but that is laughable. This model is not popular in the West.
The Lilliputian model is death by a thousand ropes. An ever increasing number of rules, regulations, taxes, tax incentives, disincentives, etc. that result in companies and people having to behave as if they were living under socialism. This model is acceptable to large numbers of people in the West.
We may never see a Department of Soft Drinks, however the numerous agencies that control the development, production, distribution, and sale of Coke and Pepsi make those companies virtual bureaus under the Department of Commerce.
Yes there is still room for innovation and creative disruption, but going forward, as we are told we must be concerned about global warming, intrinsic racism, the next pandemic, etc. the many tiny ropes of Lilliputian bureaucrats will be pulled ever tighter.
I like “the free market.”
