ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. -- The Escambia County Circle K where a clerk was set on fire by a woman on March 30 remains temporarily closed.
The clerk, identified by family as Joie Hellmich, suffered severe life-threatening burns after being doused with gasoline and lit on fire. Betty McFadden, 30, was charged with attempted murder.
Hellmich's friend Jodie Jones told Channel 3 on Wednesday that Hellmich is currently in critical but stable condition.
She’ll likely have more surgeries in the future and will have a long road to recovery," Jones told Channel 3 in a statement. " She continues to fight really hard and we have faith that will continue. We are humbled by the outpouring of love, concern and support being shown to us. We are choosing to focus on all the positive steps being made and we ask that you continue to keep Joie in your prayers.
The Circle K is located at North W Street and Massachusetts Avenue.
"Out of respect for our employees, we have temporarily closed this location," Circle K told Channel 3 Wednesday morning in a statement. "The event last week was incredibly traumatic and we are focused on supporting our team with both resources and time off. At the same time, we also recognize that this store plays an important role in the local community, and we’d like to reopen it as soon as practical -- ideally, that will happen in the next couple of weeks."
Circle K added the workers at the store are being offered hours at other local area stores.

Black woman sets white woman on fire.
Totally random.
That should be a death penalty case.
I know how I’d vote on that.
and not one bit rasist....
Do i REALLY need to LOOK??? Probably not!
As a society, that we have stories like this come and go so frequently is damning. Worse, is that they are not met by broad public disgust and outrage. The decay in society has been profound.
ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. —
Escambia County sheriff’s deputies arrested Betty Jean McFadden on charges of attempted homicide, after investigators said McFadden attacked the clerk.
In a tweet, deputies said that the victim had asked McFadden, who is homeless, not to panhandle outside the store. McFadden is accused of returning that afternoon, pouring gasoline on the clerk, and then throwing lit matches at her until she caught fire. A second employee at Circle K was burned while saving the victim.
Deputies said McFadden “calmly walked out of the store” and was located a few blocks away.
The family of the store clerk who was attacked identified her as Joie Hellmich to WEAR, saying the mother of two is in critical but stable condition at a hospital. In a statement sent to WEAR the family said, “We heard the news from a good Samaritan who called us from scene. He was not the only angel at the scene and we are profoundly grateful for the people who acted with nothing short of true heroism yesterday.”

End of a promising career.
Too much trash from America's democRAT-run sh!tholes ends up here.
JFYI:
Escambia County abuts Alabama. Pensacola is its largest city.
Two reasons, I think.
1. Florida attracts mentally ill people, because they don’t have to worry about seeking shelter from the weather.
2. Journalists are legally allowed to search for any stories they wish to print, unlike other states that keep their crime stories somewhat locked away.
True--and it attracts those who as Barry Obama put it "choose not to work."
One of the most-populated states.
