For all the money spent Russia couldn’t take Kiev and U.S couldn’t hold Kabul. They’re built to fight each other but don’t have the will to pacify lesser militaries. What a waste.

Like a cruise missile (maneuver) but 10X faster.
Nobody in the world has fielded an air breather.
Much of the design done in Hunstville, Alabama -— where engineers don’t waste time trying to figure out if the Y chromosome still defines someone’s sex.
Not true.
An adversary has.
Y not?
Pssst - BrahMos and the Soviet/Russian missiles it is related to/descended from are all air breathers. Rocket launch, ramjet cruise.
Which leaves nearly one alternative. Nuclear weapons.
Brahmos is not hypersonic.
And is limited to 200 miles.
“Like a cruise missile (maneuver) but 10X faster.”
A mile per second.
Theirs supposedly orbits the Earth prior to entry for designated target. This was in the news a couple months ago.
I seriously DOUBT the U.S. is ahead of, or even tied with China in the race for best hypersonic missile. There are NO defenses against China's hypersonic missile, supposedly.
We're screwed.
Which adversary and which missile?
An Indian engineer I went to school with went to Huntsville to work. He was single. He asked where he could find the girls. Well...to make the answer short, it’s a great place to be single and female.
Seriously though, they have a lot of great industry. In Decatur there is a large Toraray plant that makes carbon fiber for aerospace.
Huntsville has the highest engineer-to-worker ratio of all cities in the U.S. In my lifetime they’ve made stuff that engineers at MIT said couldn’t be done (i.e. missile defense).
Near peer. Not naming them.
BrahMos-II is and you need to check range on the BrahMos I variants there.
You are also forgetting it’s cousin, the Zircon. Also an air breather. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/3M22_Zircon
Shhhh! Don’t wake the sleeping.
The Chinese production ones to date are gliders that ride on an ICBM. Somewhat different than this.
AFAIK, this is the first successful test of a scramjet lasting more than a few seconds. A big step forward.
Nope. The Zircon missile in production today uses a scramjet and has been observed working by outside observers. See my link above.
