Obama and Romney are back, and show how American politics have changed for the worse
CNN ^ | April 6 | Analysis by Stephen Collinson, CNN

Posted on 04/06/2022 10:16:16 AM PDT by RandFan

The year 2012 called and wants its politics back.

Former President Barack Obama and ex-Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney -- two old rivals who waged a tough election campaign that year -- are creating a fleeting vision of what even a marginally functioning Washington might look like.

Obama made his first post-presidential trip to the White House Tuesday and showed he'd not lost a political step, telling demoralized Democrats -- worried about a possible midterm election shellacking -- to buck up and remember what political power is for.#

Meanwhile, Romney -- now a Utah senator -- is suddenly turning into an old school Capitol Hill powerbroker. He plans to break with most of his GOP colleagues and vote for Supreme Court nominee Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson based on the throwback rationale that she's qualified. Romney is also in the thick of a bid to forge a compromise on Covid-19 funding, for which he's earned some rare praise from the White House.

"It feels like the good old days," beamed President Joe Biden in the East Room of the White House, where cheers for Obama lifted the gloom of Democrats at an event promoting the current White House's expansion of the Affordable Care Act.

But as much as anyone might want to believe it, with Russia's atrocities in Ukraine and the Republican Party fully signed up to ex-President Donald Trump's democracy threatening authoritarianism, the good old days are far from back -- and they weren't that great anyway, as anyone who remembers the fierce feuds over passing Obamacare and government shutdowns of that era will remember.

Still, if things were bad back then, they are indisputably worse now.

Misinformation, conspiracy theories, lies, culture wars and barely concealed racism now dominate Washington....

Romney, like McCain before him, was an intentional willing Designated Loser.

The GOP wanted the natural born citizen clause neutered just as much as the Democrats did.

CNN must ache as they miss those days, when Barry and Mitt, the designated Republican gracious loser, worked together as a team of sorts to tilt the country to the Left.

“Trump’s democracy threatening authoritarianism,“

The do everything from injecting you to tell you what car you can but it’s Trump Trump’s democracy threatening authoritarianism that is the danger we face. Musk should have found a way to buy CNN instead of 10% of Twitter.

Yup. And Mormon egomaniacs are a special type — or so my Mormon relatives warn me.

Yes, because they think they specially designated by God and therefore are on a divine mission.

Let’s support Romney and Bain’s Bioweapons factories
in Ukraine with our lives, our treasures, and our children.

We all must die for Romney and his company that began
on the crying souls of slaughtered babies.

NOTHING is more important than the trafficking tunnels
of Romney, Schumer, Pelosi and Biden.

.... or so the bastard from Mexico says.

In looking at closeups of Mittens, he’s fast approaching that senile “Get off my lawn” recalcitrance, particularly against the Republican Party. One would almost think he’s channeling Joe Biden AND John McCain. Screw him. Utah ought to know better, frankly. Liz and Mittens are two BIG strikes....

It really does seem like Romney is representing his church and not his party. GOP voters need to reply in kind and never vote for a Mormon on their ballot. Unfortunately, they are just too beholden to the open border and progressive agendas of their church.
