War in Ukraine: Street in Bucha found strewn with dead bodies
BBC ^ | 3 Hours Ago

Journalists entering a Ukrainian town which saw fierce fighting with Russian forces have found dead bodies of men in civilian clothes strewn on a street.

An AFP news agency reporter in Bucha, near Kyiv, counted at least 20 bodies. At least one man had his hands tied.

Ukrainian forces regained control of the town this week and photos show widespread devastation.

BBC journalists in another part of Ukraine found the bodies of two civilians killed by Russian forces.

Earlier this week the BBC's Jeremy Bowen and his team counted a total of 13 bodies, some of whom may have been Ukrainian soldiers, along a stretch of road between the villages of Mria and Myla.

Ukraine says Russian forces have made a "rapid retreat" from around Kyiv, with one official saying the whole region around the capital has been retaken since the invasion began on 24 February.

The invasion has seen thousands killed in ferocious fighting and has made refugees of at least four million Ukrainians. Western states have responded with tough sanctions against Russia and military supplies for Ukraine.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has sought to justify his attack by arguing that Ukraine, a former Soviet state with Nato and EU ambitions, was a constant threat and Russia could not feel "safe, develop and exist".

In Bucha, where a photographer for Reuters news agency also recorded dead bodies, holes gaped from apartment blocks hit by shelling and crushed cars littered the streets.

Sixteen of the 20 bodies seen by AFP lay either on the pavement or by the verge. Three were sprawled in the middle of the road, and another lay on his side in the courtyard of a destroyed house.

An open Ukrainian passport lay on the ground next to the person who had his hands tied behind his

I am baffled as to how so many Freepers have lost their minds over this war in Ukraine.

Yeah, me too.

The problem is the Democrat Party.

This, of course, forgives Ryan & McConnell and their sabotage of Trump and OUR wall. Both sides are responsible for the ongoing invasion of America, a concern lost on interventionists glued to the border of the Ukraine. Until our side wakes up out of their self-induced trance, Americans will continue to be killed by illegals, illegals we are all being asked to support thru additional taxes. I can't afford to give anymore, and I sure as hell don't need an extra burden of inflation related to the moronic sanctions Biden is laying on Putin. Not my circus, not my monkeys, and I already gave at the office.

Okay, that was 80 years ago.

Are they doing it today?

“(Don’t forget Obama and the Maidan revolution that overthrew a legitimately elected Ukraine Government.)”

Well, yes and no. It’s true that Yanukovych beat feet under pressure, but it’s my understanding that only the cabinet dissolved (the cabinet was appointed, not elected, and had to be approved by thwe Ukrainian Parliament); the elected Ukrainian Parliament (the Rada) was not overthrown.

I guess it’s like Slo Joe heading off into the sunset, and his cabinet (SOS, Atty Gen, Sec’y of Defense, etc.) quitting or being fired by Congress, which approved their nominations.

Allegedly, but he only way we'll ever know for sure is if they lose. And right now the Ukrainians are definitely winning.

That’s a fact. Ryan is scum. And so is McConnell. And a host of others.

I’m not saying it was right. I’m not saying it was wrong. But to bring up Serbians’ aid to downed allied flyers in 1943 as if that proves or disproves anything about 1999 or now is just foolishness.

I am baffled as to how so many Freepers have lost their minds over this war in Ukraine.

It's quite simple. Were it not for Clinton wagging the dog and Albright getting vengeance on her ancient Serb enemies, Ukraine would not be invaded right now. Another reason is Europe is sending Putin a billion dollars a day to fund his war effort. Truth is, they don't give a crap about Ukraine except it might be useful as another suburb of Germany.

“And right now the Ukrainians are definitely winning.

Well, they’re not losing anyway. And that is winning in and of itself.

Putin thought this would be over in a week and Zelenski would vanish with a plane load of American cash. Kind of like Afghanistan. But that’s not what happened.

Instead the Ukrainians are putting up one hell of a fight. Thousands of his troops are dead or wounded, including several senior leaders. Their equipment is poorly maintained crap and their army of conscript peasants was utterly unprepared for this.

Couldn’t happen to a nicer bunch.

***Never heard of it. It sure aint no reason to invade the country. Otherwise, Russia would have reason to take back Alaska and re-install our legitimately elected guvmint in 2020.

"Additional facts were helpful, hopefully, to all readers of the thread."

Then let me add that a large contingent of WWII Ukrainian SS in France, shot all their German officers and defected to the Maquis partisans.

Quick question: why are you so apparently emotionally invested in what is happening in a regional conflict in Eastern Europe.
***Taking a sorta 40,000 foot viewpoint of things, looking through the clouds of disinformation... we see that one country invaded the other. We also see that this is the 2nd invasion since OIL was discovered there, in those very regions where trouble is being stirred up. And we also see that there was a nuclear proliferation Agreement that the US president signed, that the Rukes signed and violated twice, and that the Ukes signed and HONORED. If we don’t get nuke proliferation right, then it is no longer a “regional” conflict, it is one that directly threatens trailerpark badasses like you.

I’ve asked this question of several very vocal and prolific Ukraine cheerleaders; not one has answered.
***I notice you have not answered the question put to you.

Sounds suspicious. Who caries their passport around with them on the street.

In the former Soviet Bloc countries, a passport just means an identity document. It costs extra money to get a passport for foreign travel.

Even Dubya is looking pretty good compared to these Democratic doofuses.

The Democrats fought Bush just as viciously and as unhinged as they did Trump, but conservative news sources were not as prevalent and there were not that many other sources yet.

Bush got no help on trying to fix the border situation, so he called in thee National Guard and they provided the eyes to hunt down border crossers for DHS. There were a whole lot of people sent back during that time.
