The Russian military targeted the major oil refinery in the central Ukrainian city in a series of strikes, including "high-precision long-range and sea-based weapons," Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov told CNN. The strikes destroyed storage facilities holding gasoline and diesel fuels for Ukrainian troops in the country's eastern and central regions.

thank you
More losing by Putin.
The largest refinery in Ukraine is in Odessa and it is still working away providing fuel for the Ukrainian military.
The irony is that the Odessa refinery is owned by Gazprom, which is owned by the Russian government. If Putin attacks it he wipes out billions in Russian property.
Factoid:
Pre war, Ukraine consumed about 450,000 barrels/day of crude (refined into diesel and gasoline).
There is a single refinery complex in Ukraine. Located at Dnipro, of which this refinery is a part. I had thought Russia would take it intact, but maybe they will destroy it.
Be aware, this is how you get fuel to a country. You send crude and it gets refined and distributed local.
Refining remote and trying to ship gasoline and diesel separate multiplies the problem several times. Dnipro is on a river that extends south to where tankers arrive. The crude comes up the river to the refinery complex.
Trying to fuel Ukraine via gas and diesel trucks from the EU looks impossible to me. That refinery complex likely decides the war.
You are wrong. The Odessa installation is somewhat small. Capacity of about 54K barrels/day. Compared to the Dnipro/Kremenchuk complex that has throughput of 550,000 barrels/day.
And the Odessa facility is owned by Lukoil, not GAZPROM.

That’s NATO stuff is Russian gaslighting. That issue was always open to negotiation. Don’t listen to drooling Putinists and their fairy tales on that subject. Ukraine wants EU membership, though.
Its not propaganda. Zelensky himself stated not long ago that he had “cooled down” about Ukraine’s bid to join NATO. So NATO membership has been a goal for some time.
A country in our hemisphere wanting to enter into a defensive military alliance with Russia would never be tolerated by the U.S. Cuba comes immediately to mind. We would view it as a serious threat, not unlike how Russia views Ukraine. Rightly or wrongly, its all about geopolitical realities. Zelensky’s unrealistic desires have led to much destruction within his own country — and now a growing economic problem for Europe.
Was bringing us closer to WW III worth it?
This has never been about NATO. Putin has said himself Ukraine is an illigimate nation and Ukraine does not have an authentic culture. Putin is a Russian supremacist who considers all of the former USSR to be Russian property.
NATO was an option rather than goal Ukrainians. They’ve always been focused on EU membership. The Ukrainians would be fine with a deal like Switzerland has.
Putin can’t even beat Ukrainian farmers. I serious doubt he’s contemplating WW3 with NATO given that.
