Democrats were already staring into a deeply rough midterm election in six months. Then the Biden Administration decided to make a move that could result in huge negative political consequences it isn’t prepared to handle.
Indeed, with persistent inflation, rising gas prices, and Democratic voter enthusiasm at a new historic low, the Biden administration may have just decided to spark an immigration crisis at the border.
On Friday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced that in late May, the United States will no longer prevent migrants from seeking asylum along the nation’s southern border out of concerns of spreading COVID-19.
The Trump-era policy was arguably the most controversial holdover that the Biden administration kept in place for well over a year. Progressive lawmakers, including many from the Massachusetts delegation, felt the policy lacked basic decency in the first place, and given that the pandemic has receded somewhat, it was definitely time to scrap the rule.
With seven months before Election Day, a lot can happen. Indeed, it is possible that things aren’t so bad for Democrats right now, especially if Biden’s approval ratings jump just a little. But Democrats don’t have a lot of room for things to get worse.
Many Democrats fear that their party’s leader may have opened the door to just that.

If you know election results beforehand, you can do whatever you please. Saddam Hussain used to win with 90+% of the “vote.”
My grandparents came in at Ellis Island and said that anyone unable to work and take care of himself/herself was turned back.
Also, immigrants had to be naturalized ... meaning, they needed to grasp the language well enough to understand a ballot and cast a vote!!! THAT’S critical.
Of course, there were NO freebies and they had to work like maniacs to get along.... even during a global depression. But they didn’t come here for free stuff... they just wanted to get away from the murderers at home and to have the opportunities in the US, for people who wanted to work!!

The midterms will only be won by them if there is massive voter fraud across the board and that’s when the party begins because America has had enough.

Probably, the white house calculation is that since they’re going to lose the mid terms anyway—they might as well go big with illegals as they represent future democrat voters in future elections

Looks good on paper, but in practice, the laws are whatever the executive decides to enforce (or not) and whatever the courts deign to tolerate.
The players are clever. See, for example, using the term "living constitution" to kill the constitution - you know that deal that was made? well, it's been remade by one of the parties. The bullies in the federal government.
