Sean Penn calls for billionaire to step up and buy aircraft for Ukraine

Ukraine has been asking for more fighters since the war started, but the US refused to support a deal that could have seen Poland supply 28 MiG-29s, a Russian-made jet of the type its remaining pilots are used to flying. Washington was concerned that supplying fighter jets could be deemed escalatory by a nuclear-armed Russia.
Despite the refusals, Ukraine continues to press its case, and overnight its air force tweeted “the greatest need is for fighter jets” and asked specifically for F-15s and F-16s, whose original designs date back to the 1960s and 1970s, which it said its pilots could learn to fly with “just 2-3 weeks of training”.
Experts said it would normally take pilots up to four months to learn how to fly a new fighter, and Ukraine would also have the problem of finding spare parts and engineers who knew how to maintain Boeing and Lockheed Martin-made aircraft.
Ukraine’s air force – a 10th the size of Russia’s – had been expected to be knocked out of the skies within a few days of the invasion. But some of its fighters remain active and the airspace over the country remains sufficiently contested that Russia has not been able to carry out bombing missions freely.
Andy Netherwood, a former RAF pilot and defence commentator, said: “If you’d have asked me at the beginning of the war, I’d have said it was impossible for Ukrainian pilots to learn how to master a new fighter in two to three weeks. But now I’m reluctant to use the word impossible when it comes to the Ukrainian air force.”
However, a more serious obstacle to a billionaire buying F-15s and F-16s and flying them to Ukraine would be US export controls – major arms sales have to be approved by Congress.

Spicoli doesn't seem to understand that Moscow Joe is personally making sure that Ukraine doesn't get jet fighters. Moscow Joe was paid by Putin through Burisma, which is owned by one of Putin’s cronies, Zlochevsky, who left Ukraine along with Putin’s puppet, Yanukovich, after the Maidan Revolution.
Moscow Joe was also given a leg up towards being elected because Putin made sure Trump was up to his eyeballs in alligators for the entire length of his tenure through the Russian collusion frame-up. Igor Danchenko, the guy who was arrested over his role in fabricating the Steele dossier, is Russian. He appears to be a Russian agent planted by Putin inside the Democratic party.
One of the ways you discredit your enemy is by planting evidence that suggests he is your paid agent. That was Danchenko’s assignment within the Democratic party - to help stick it to Trump.

Sean should do something useful with his life. I think Ukraine is still looking for foreign volunteers.

Pretty pointless, since they have plenty of manpower. What they need is jet fighters. If Spicoli and folks like him can force Moscow Joe’s hand, and open the spigots for multiple squadrons of F-16’s, that would literally be worth 100,000 troops to Ukraine. It’s hard to say if he’ll be successful, but simply getting the idea into the popular consciousness may eventually get Moscow Joe to go against his master.

Zelenskyy is worth 600 million. Maybe he needs to step up instead of asking me to buy things for him.

This stuff about fearing escalation in the event of more extensive supply efforts is BS. Russia supplied North Korea and North Vietnam with its best stuff - jet fighters and anti-aircraft hardware in a war against a nuclear power. Did the US nuke Moscow? That would be a no. Going slow on supplying Ukraine while bloviating about freedom is basically Moscow Joe’s way of paying Putin back for the bribes funneled through Burisma without risking impeachment, given the bipartisan consensus in favor of arming Ukraine.

Spicoli doesn't seem to understand that Moscow Joe is personally making sure that Ukraine doesn't get jet fighters. Just throwing it out there, but wasn't Ukraine the place where an evil genius billionaire with a suitcase of money would go to buy jets? Maybe if it wasn't, they'd still have jets.

They still do, but they started out with a 1:10 inferiority in numbers vs Russia, and they’re getting worn down. I’d think an evil genius billionaire would be better off shopping in Russia - much bigger weapon stores spread out over a larger area and much more corrupt. The problem for Putin is that a good chunk of Russia’s equipment stores are just piles of rust that crumble to the touch. The money was appropriated, and money changed hands, but the maintenance wasn’t done.

Maybe if low IQ Joe would step up and kiss the Talibans ass they would give some of the aircraft Joe left in Afghanistan to the Ukraines.

Obama claimed providing lethal aid to Russia would start WW3. Trump dismissed Obama’s objections and sent the Javelins that are devastating Russian tanks. If Trump were in office, he’d be sending Ukraine F-16’s. That’s why Putin wouldn’t have invaded during a second Trump term, for fear of Trump unleashing Lend Lease II.
